FF3 RC1 is 100MB

Submitted by Devo on June 4, 2008 - 3:25pm

The new firefox3 folder is over 100MB. I knew this seemed huge so I went looking for the culprit. I found a file in /FirefoxPortableTest/Data/profile. The file is urlclassifier3.sqlite and it is 53.6MB. Does anybody know what this file is and why it is so big?

Firefox 2.0.0.14 cannot install extensions.

Whenever I try to install an extension, I always get this error.

Firefox could not install the file at

because: Unexpected installation error
Review the Error console log for more details

Is there any more info known about this error?

FF3 RC1 - PortableApps RSS feed

Submitted by PollieXmas on June 3, 2008 - 3:55am

Hi All,

Has anyone else notice that the RSS feed for portable apps no longer updates itself automatically?

My other rss feeds still work fine, but the portable app one I need to go and manually reload the bookmark.

There does not seem to be any settings that you can set so I guees the next thing to try is to delete it and just add it again manually.

(I installed FFP3 RC1 over my existing FFP v2.14 installation.)

Thanks
Paul

FF3 RC1 Unable To Install Extensions

Submitted by cjm2576 on June 2, 2008 - 4:21pm

I've been using Portable FF3 since Beta4, all has been working fine. Today I updated to RC1 and lost the ability to install extensions and my existing extensions disappeared. So here's what I did.

1. Backed up my stuff.
2. Deleted all traces of FF from the USB drive and the system. Everything under Docs & Settings\App Data deleted. Everything in the FirefoxPortable folder deleted. All Mozilla related reg entries deleted.
3. Downloaded and installed Portable FF3 RC1 and installed to USB drive.

[OUTDATED: This will give you an outdated and insecure version of Flash, so this method should no longer be used. The best option is to copy the plugin from a local install at present.]

Hallo Firefox USB Forum !

I tried the latest Firefox Portable 3.5, I think it is.

And liked it a lot !

Smile

Never the less:
Can I get Firefox Portable 3.0 pre?
... Because my 3 favorite add-ons do not work in 3.5 ...

Sad

(I have read that it do in the early 3)

And can I get it to "speak" Danish in the menu?

Themes

Ok, I downloaded this with the Portable Apps Suite, and its been working great.

It does this to all themes. It downloads them, then tries to install and says "Firefox could not install the file at 'https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ then the rest for the .jar file'
because: Unexpected installation error. Reveiw the Error Console log for more details. -203"

and i get this error in my error console: "e.location.getItemLocation(e.id) has no properties" in "file:///F:/PortableApps/FirefoxPortable/App/firefox/components/nsExtensionManager.js"
