Cannot view Textra Podcast

Submitted by george3095 on January 4, 2008 - 8:30pm

When I select the Textra link, eventually the Quicktime icon changes to a broken one. Obviously, I don't get Audio or Video. If anyone else had this problem and fixed it, please let me know how it was done. I have fiddled with the Quicktime settings but as of yet, no soap.

Portable Host File

Submitted by nappanwo on January 4, 2008 - 2:07pm

I hope the subject is fairly self-explanatory. Essentially what I want to do is set a static ip for Firefox to resolve to given the appropriate address:

I.e. google.com --> 64.233.187.99

For specific reasons DNS will not resolve certain domains however the domain may still be reached if the IP is know. This could be placed in the host file on the computer from which FF is being ran however for certain reasons it would be much easier to have these static host name resolutions being attached to a portable Firefox.

Thanks for any help.

Slow Firefox

Submitted by Dauphinflyer on January 4, 2008 - 10:30am

Hello Chaps,

I imagine this was asked before, I did a search but it was not very fruitful. I apologise if this is the case.

My portable firefox version has gotten rather slow recently when I am trying to switch between tabs. I have got a brand new 4GB USB stick (dongle) the cache is set to 15mb and I regularly have 15 tabs open at once if not more.
Yet when I want to switch it takes an age for the action to take place. I have this also on other computers.

What am I doing wrong?

Kind Regards DF

Flash player

Submitted by hotjeff1857 on January 1, 2008 - 1:30pm

I can no longer install adobe flash player on my portable firefox.

It is because Flash Player installation file requires the browser to be closed (unlike previous flash player versions which were installed right through adobe webpage. There was nothing to download). If I close the portable firefox, it is just an ordinary file on my USB drive and won't get adobe installed even if I run the set up file.

Anybody has a solution!

DropMyRights,

John,

I've just started using DropMyRights on FFP when I'm on a machine where I am an admin, which is most of the time.
I was wondering what you thought of this. I realize that FFP does not need admin rights.
I'm just wondering what you think of this from a technical point of view.
The idea of this "launcher", DMR, launching this launcher, FFP, launching this app, FF.

It seems to be working well.

Missing sound in Firefox

Submitted by bobstennett on December 27, 2007 - 1:32pm

Every time I try a new version, I just installed version 3, I am missing some sound with my firefox installation, like Internet radio sounds. I now have a simple solution for anyone with the same problem. Download the file at http://gzwn.net/Documents/WMP%20Firefox.zip and install the dll files in your plugins directory and you will have your sound back.
