Firefox Portable

just wondering if theres a folder on the installation directory thats for cache cause i was gonna set my cache to like 100 mb but im not sure if you can have cache with the portable app..

Hello, I want to start Firefox Portable from a CD without being asked, whether I want to copy the files to the HD. Is this possible?

A few weeks back my extensions stopped working on "foreign" (ie, not my own) computers. They just don't appear. This is quite annoying as I am a university lecturer and I show my students how to use many of the extensions, but I now have to switch to the local installation of Firefox because I can't access any of my extensions when running my Firefox Portable away from home. I also lose my spelling dictionaries (I only have access to US English when away from home). Any ideas? The extensions all seem to be installed on my portable hard drive.

I've noticed that the Places feature to autocomplete when typing in the address bar doesn't work in the portable version. A little testing revealed that this is because history is disabled. I think that the core issue is a Mozilla one and have filed a bug. (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=406606)

If I have Firefox 2.0.0.11 Portable on my drive and I installed Firefox 3 Beta 1. Before I ran it, I was wondering if having two different portable editions of Firefox will interfere with each other. I know it will hag a lost of space on my drive, but will there be any other negative effects of having two portable version Firefox on my drive?

Firefox's updater has a bug where a portable or secondary install of Firefox will overwrite the locally installed Firefox's registry settings when version update is performed. It appears this bug was introduced within the last few point releases of Firefox 2.x. It's filed as Bug 406335 within Bugzilla. Please vote for this bug if you have a Bugzilla account.

What Goes Wrong

I use firefox portable at office and regular installed version at home. I want to use the profiles etc at the firefox portable as the base and sync up with firefox regular at home. Any Suggestion on how best to do this?

I've found with the recent versions of FFP, auto-update causes some of the local FF references--namely, the Start menu Internet link and Add/Remove programs entry--to point to FFP.

The first time this happened I was very confused, as after I removed my JumpDrive and attempted to launch my local copy of FF from the top of the Start menu, Windows gave me an error. I've since figured out the problem, and it seems the only solution is to update FFP *first*, then update the local copy. Either that or reinstall local FF after updating FFP.

i tried 3.1b and it crashed at just start point, i click to restart firefox at the notification window, but got the same crash error message

Earlier I tried to update Portable FF and the SL just sat there (I waited ten minutes and Nata) so I exited Portable started Local version and DL the complete version then installed that to USB.
