Firefox doesn't launch: Disable extensions?

Submitted by foxcole on October 8, 2007 - 1:18pm

Possibly the recent update of eQuake, and/or FlashGot, both of which I installed on Oct. 2, might be causing Firefox to fail to launch just within the past two days. In ProcessExplorer, the Firefox process is running, though; it just never launches the window. I've left it running for three hours with no launch, so by that time I'd say I can give up on it.

i think i figured it out!
if i encryped the update.exe file in the "firefox" folder, with toucan, i will no longer get the Software Update Box
i keep deleting it and it keeps restoring itself
would this solve my problem?
thanks Smile

bookmarks are geting lost randomly

Submitted by jsimlo on October 5, 2007 - 9:46am

I have been trying to determine what is causing it, but so far, I have failed to do so. Unfortunatelly, I have no extra time to go deeper into this problem and what I got is not enough for a bugzilla report, therefore I decided to at least report it here..

From time to time (aprox. every other day), some of my bookmarks get lost randomly. With no crash experiences, ff is always properly closed before computer shutdown, disk is working fine, etc. However random lines in the bookmarks.html file sometimes change from this:

Proxy error at work

Submitted by matte88 on October 4, 2007 - 11:20am

I cannot get Portable FF to connect at work. I get:

ERROR
Proxy Error
The proxy encountered an error.
Please try again later.

I have checked IE proxy settings and set portable FF to the same settings, in automatic and manual mode. The proxy is an ins script which ends in "ie6sp2.ins" running on a LAN. Didn't work.

I tried renaming firefox to iexplore and also ie6sp2. Neither worked.

In all instances portable FF launches and gives me the above error.

Anyone know anything else to try?

Thanks!

Internet problems

for some reason, lately, whenever i go to load a website, firefox will sometimes not load anything, on any pages, for up to a few minutes at a tim
at first, i thought it was the internet, but i could still be downloading something, inside of firefox, and miranda was still connecting just fine
it's really a pain in the ass, and i'd like to get it fixed

Transfering Addons and Bookmarks.......

Submitted by jakewc2 on September 30, 2007 - 3:01pm

Hi, first of all I just wanted to say I really like this little app.

I have just installed Portableapps on my sandisc, I have it working, but what I want to do is to transfer my firefox addons and bookmarks to the protable drive. How do I do that. Baring in mind, I'm not a tachy, so can you explain in simple terms how I can do this.

Thanks you

John
