Submitted by PilotBill on October 22, 2007 - 7:43pm

Hello, any idea where to put the Shockwave .dll file As I don't see a [plugins] folder under the [data] file? I see a [plugins] folder under that [App]/[Firefox] folders, should it go there?
Thanks
Bill

Browser's Security Component

Submitted by monkeycpa on October 22, 2007 - 1:45pm

When I open the Firefox Portable, the following alert appeared:

Could not initialize the browser's security component. The most likely cause is problems with files in your browser's profile directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions and your hard disk is not full or close to full. It is recommended that you exit the browser and fix the problem. If you continue to used this browser session, you might see incorrect browser behavior when acessing security features.

I saw the bottow right corner of the web brower that the lock icon is not shown.

Help! My portable edition of Firefox will not load

Submitted by joesmith07 on October 22, 2007 - 11:26am

I recently installed the latest FFPE update and when I loaded my FF, it installed the updates as usual. The update seemed successful but FF never loaded. So, I tried again and it still won't load. I even restarted the machine and reinserted my SanDisk Cruzer, but no luck. I tried to open it in Safe Mode using the extension:

G:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\FirefoxPortable.exe -safe-mode

G is the right location of my drive.

The Portable Firefox screen loads and nothing happens. Any suggestions? This is awfully confusing!

Worthwhile to copy program from USB to HD?

Submitted by phredo on October 20, 2007 - 11:37am

In the interests of faster operations and maybe being able to not disable features that would otherwise shorten USB life, I thought it might be worthwhile to copy the whole software temporarily to the HD of a visited computer. Could be easily done with a batch file, copying to the "my documents\music" folder, for example, which most Windows setups have. When done, one could copy everything back again in order to save changes from the session.

Is there any problem or downside in doing this?

Thanks

OOPS. Updated FF

Submitted by declan@xares.net on October 19, 2007 - 7:52pm

I just updated FireFox portable by mistake, using the autoupdater. I was typing at the time and the updater came on just as I pressed space. So it updated. Does anyone know if this will cause any ill effects in FireFox portable?
