Firefox Portable

I've got Portable Firefox (2.0 rc3, to be exact) running on my USB thumb drive. It works fine at my house, but at school, it can't connect to the internet.

My school sysadmin has a proxy server of some sort setup (I'm not sure of the exact details - after all, as a student, I don't have access to the server). While Firefox is set to "Direct Connection to the Internet" in the network settings, I'm not able to access the internet with it (obviously, because of the proxy server).

"Auto-Detect Proxy Settings for this Network" doesn't seem to work either, for some reason. It's rather hard to troubleshoot, seeing as (as a student), I have very limited access to system settings. Without having access to the IE connection settings dialog, and no access to the system registry either, any way I can get Firefox to connect to the internet correctly?

I have a Athlon 64 3700 processor and interested in learning if there are optimized builds for specific processors.It's a longshot I suppose but thought I'd ask.Thanks.

In my download action window, I have no entries at all. I'm pretty sure there have been several entries earlier. How can this be and how can I correct it? Now I can't adjust the way Firefox handles downloads.

hi I'm using firefox with success but on a USB key , if I have to save a bookmark it begins to be very slow (2 minutes to save) it's not useful , is it known ????? THX you

If I "install" PF to a folder on my local hard disk, PF works, but if I move that installation to a folder on my external USB hard disk, it crashes out with an illegal operation error and then prompts to send the crash log to Microsoft - you know the dialog! Anyway of fixing this? I'd like to make it truly portable and have just one installation for PF!

Where can i find more info on this. How do i get a german language .xpi for it?
With Firefox 1.5.0.7 de.xpi it said "Can't be installed - wrong version"

I'm so annoyed of having to re-install my Extensions when there is a new FFP release, is there an easier way? thanks

I've not been able to figure out a pattern yet, but the menus in FFP1.5.0.7 are frequently getting disabled and I can't seem to get them back without restarting. Any ideas how I can track this down?
