Firefox Portable

I know that the default browser check is intentionally disabled in the portable version of firefox. Neverthless I would like to enable this check.

The reason: I do use the portable firefox located on a normal HD of my PC. The advantage is, that I can run it in several different OS- Installations. So I do have usually 3 or more installations of Windows on my PC that reside on different partitions. With Portable Firefox I won't have to configure the whole bookmarks etc. after a fresh install but can use immedately the familiar Firefox.

But I'm tired of setting firefox manually several times as default browser after some testings or Updates when IE has set itself to the standard browser again.

Does the new 1.3.1 launcher not support

UserProfileDirectory=Data\userprofile

as a Userprofile setting in the firefoxportable.ini?

I would like to use the UserProfileDirectory option in the new launcher as well.

I've both flash player and flashblock installed both latest version, but flashblock disable flash player, I must disable flashblock and restart FF to use flash, any idea ?

I've been using FF portable for many months. After the latest automatic update (1.5.0.7) I noticed that all the search engines are gone from the search toolbar. Therefore when I type a string and press "return" nothing happens. I followed the link to "add engines", but the mozilla page at that link does not offer google anywhere on it, only a bunch of other search engines. Not having the quick google search will really cripple the appeal of using firefox for me. Can anyone help?

Also, when opening multiple instances of the firefox window, the bookmarks toolbar keeps reappearing even though I deselect it. Can I force firefox to always ignore this toolbar? I don't use it.

Lately, Firefox Portable will not remember any of my settings. If I make changes to the toolbars (add icons,etc) it does not remember those changes when I restart. It also won't remember if I had a bookmark sidebar open. What can I do?

I set up Firefox Portable 1.5.0.7 as the instructions stated for running on a CD. I have it being burned to a CD using BartPE (http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/) as the boot environment.

When I boot from this disc, I'm running into two problems:

1. Firefox Portable tells me it won't run from a Read Only drive, however, I thought it was supposed to be able to run from a CD. So, what's going on?

2. If I try to bypass the first issue by copying the Firefox Portable directory onto a hard drive and running it from there, it never comes up. The task manager shows both firefox.exe and firefoxportable.exe processes running, but I don't actually have a window.

I'm looking for Ryan's app to make PFF the default browser but his site doesn't seem to be working ... anywhere else to get this?

I am having trouble uninstalling Adblock FiltersetG Updater from my extensions list.

Since I installed Firefox to my USB stick the local firefox installation on my desktop PC stopped remembering form data (search fields, quick search field in firefox, etc.). That is, it only remembers the data for the current session, but after i close all instances of FF all form data is lost.

tools -> options > saved forms -> save form data is checked

i also tried checking and checking it but the problem remains.

any ideas?

... or can I? I get an error message that "Another instance of Firefox is already running."

I need to run two separate versions for me and my partner, both who use the same logon on our XP box.
