Firefox Portable

installing extensions

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on May 2, 2006 - 11:47am

Hi,

I've put PortabelFirefox on my USB stick and would like to install extensions on it. The problem is that the extension says that it will be isntalled when I restart PortabelFirefox but I have restarted it several times now, whereas the message still appears in the extensions menu. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance

Downloading anything in PFox results in Error/ Shut Down

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on May 1, 2006 - 5:31pm

So here's the thing,
Recently, using PortableFirefox to browse and save anything to my hard drive results in an error, and the program shuts down.

eg: I right click a pic on the web and hit save as and then i say where, then it errors and shuts down. I had to use another browser to d/l the PFox update.

It only started doing this last night, so I upgraded to 1.5.02 and it's still not working. I've tried a couple different computers, but to no avail.

I use a portable Firelite harddrive and my school's computers (laptop recently fried, so all my computing is done in the library). I don't think it's the hard drive's fault. I copied the PortableFirefox folder onto the computer's drive, and it still errored. And I don't want to erase my (40 gigs of) files, to see if it fixes it.

Portable Firefox and Windows Media Player

Submitted by burntout on May 1, 2006 - 9:30am

Lately, I've been having problems with WMP working on my browsers. It doesn't work both with Portable Firefox nor Internet Explorer. It doesn't play any kind of streaming media. I always get this "Please verify that the path or filename is correct" error or "The specified stream is not recognized" error. The weird thing is the WMP interface in my browsers is that of the old version of WMP.. you know the black and brown one but I have WM10 installed in my PC. WMP works perfectly on its own... I only encounter trouble with it when it comes to browsers. I'm totally clueless about this so I really need your help guys..

Need a little bit of help: PortableFirefox.ini

Submitted by Freddy801 on April 30, 2006 - 2:41pm

Can someone please explain what is expected behaviour of settings inside PortableFirefox.ini...
I know, you're gonna tell me to read te readme.txt file, but I already have read it, and I'm not certain that I got it right... So, can anyone please explain it to me... expecially the "UserProfileDirectory=Data\userprofile" setting!

I mean, when I run PortableFirefox.exe, it creates Application Data, Desktop and Favorites folders inside my Portable Firefox v1.5.0.2 folder, even though I use the .INI file with fore-mentined UserProfile setting which reffers to a existing folder.

I don't get it!! Smile I'd like to keep my PFF folder clean, you know... Wink

Cannot copy Firefox to another drive...

I just setup my Portable FireFox 1.5.0.2 on my hd with all extentions and themes. I then tried to copy it to my USB, and don't know (also can't find any info on any forums) if its a known problem, but it won't load from the USB.

I need it clik on the icon a few times and delete a few processes from task manager before it will load. And when it does, some extensions and themes aren't loaded.

It works fine if I set everything up from scratch from the USB. The same problem occurs when i copy my setup PFF to another USB drive.

Can anyone tell me if its a limitation of PFF or am i doing something wrong.
