Dialog boxes in Portable FF cutoff or truncated

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on December 27, 2005 - 2:55pm

Why do some dialog boxes in Portable Firefox tools/options appear to be cut off
on the right side? An example is in the content tab both the advanced button and the colors button open
dialog boxes that appear to missing the right side. I have noticed this behavior in Portable Tbird also.
Trying to grab the right edge and expanding the box is not possible. There are options not available
because of this. Is anyone else aware of this problem? And can it be fixed? BTW I love these portable apps.
Keep up the good work, John.

PS using latest Portable FF 1.5 version

Below are links to screen shots illustrating this behavior.

Cannot download files

Hello and thank you for your Portable Firefox, it's great. I'm using v1.5 and I've noticed a small bug. When clicking on any download hyperlinks on webpages, I receive a Windows error.

"C:\DOCUME~1\MyUsername\LOCAL~1\Temp\filename.exe could not be saved, because the source file could not be saved. Try again later or contact the server administrator."

For some odd reason it wants to save the file on the hard drive inside the Temp folder. This error does not occur with the old v1.0.7. I have checked in Tools, Options, Downloads, Download Folder, and the configuration is set to "Ask me where to save every file". This is the same configuration that I have always used in v1.0.7 and it downloads files ok.

UPX Compressed Firefox?

Submitted by flea on December 24, 2005 - 2:05am

I'd first like to thank you for making these apps portable. I'm working on some projects with USB drives and this comes in very handily. I'll post more about my projects soon.
Now for the issues...
Why isn't PFF1.5 executables and dll's compressed? I compressed them myself and shrunk it down about 40%. Less USB access = faster startup Smile

Also, I have my profile and other personal settings in a seperate directory. It took me a while, but I figured out that I had to move the PortableFirefox.ini to the same location as PortableFirefox.exe and for the ProfileDirectory setting, I had to use "..\personal\FFProfile" to specify the directory which contains my profile.

My portable firefox seems to tke favorites from the PC not my remembered ones. I have tried a few different USB keys so that is not the problem. I have also downloaded the program a few times from different places so that is also not the answer to the problem.

IE connection settings

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on December 22, 2005 - 5:57am

I have long used FF at home, and so thought that portable FF would be the perfect thing for use at work!!

unfortunately I am not sure how the computers here are connected to the internet (we have many servers etc) and the only people who know are the IT helpdesk people (who would never help with FF)

autodetect settings gives no joy, and i remember having to call the helpdesk to have my computer connection settings changed when i started working.

is there any way for firefox to use the IE connection settings or for me to be able to see them, as they are hidden in the internet explorer options.
