I am running PortableFirefox1.5 on a fairly old USB Memorystick. It works like a dream but when I shut down Firefox it can take up to 45 sec for all write activity to stop. Is there any way of reducing the writes required after Firefox is shutdown ? It becomes a bit of a nuisance when playing around with extensions/themes & having to stop & restart Firefox very often.
I have tried running Port. Firefox of both my Server Memory and from my USB Drive, and for some reason on the University Network my extensions are not thier, while if I use the Port. Firefox from the USB drive on anouther compter (Before and after) they are thier and work fine.
What can I do to avoid this, esp. since 90% of my computer time is on these computers?
Thank You
A
Hello.
I use PFF in several places and extensions like "SwitchProxy" and "Yahoo! Mail Notifier" are really helpful.
I tried PFF 1.5 but i'm experiencing some problems with proxy handling.
"SwitchProxy" button acts a bit weird... there are no proxy names on it and there is a proxy password form constantly poping up! Sometimes it pops up 6 and 7 times while a webpage is loading and everytime "Yahoo! Mail Notifier" checks for new mail! First i thought it could be a problem of "SwitchProxy", maybe a compatibility problem between "SwitchProxy" and PFF 1.5. I disabled "SwitchProxy" and installed "xyzproxy". The problem persists. The proxy password hasn't changed recently and is correct.
Any idea for adding Openoffice, org 2 Plugin for Portable firefox?
which same as ie
Anyone have any tips to speed up Portable Firefox?
I've found 1.5 to be significantly faster (interface-wise as well as internet browsing speed), but does anyone have any notes? I was considering upping the cache, but that might actually make things slowing because you'd be adding all that cache data to the portable drive.
Is it okay to use the password manager inside portablefirefox when running it from a usb flash drive? I saw this under the copying local files section of this website:
"When you start Portable Firefox for the first time, be sure to turn off disk cache, password saving and history if you're using a non-hard drive portable device."
I also run an external password manager (KeePass).
Any help would be useful. Thanks.
First of all congratulations for your new website! (and sorry for my awful english)
It´s been a wonderful surprise and permanent additon for the bookmarks).
I just wanted to ask if begining with 1.5 (about 16 Mb vs. the 8Mb of the RC3) the file compression (.exe, .jar, etc..) has been definitively discarded for the future releases of Portable Firefox due to the update system or if you may ever consider to relese a compressed version (even if it would lack the option to autoupdate).
In v1.0 you could change the language from US-en to your own language, is this still possible in this new version? Because when I replace the en-US.jar and the en-US.manifest (firefox\chrome) files I get a error. I first rename the files (nl.jar and nl.manifest) I got from FF to en-US.jar and en-US.manifest and then I overwrite the files from Portable FF, but then Portable FF wont launch anymore. This was what you have to do with v1.0, I thought, but that doesn’t work anymore.

(I hope everybody can understand it... My English isn't very good...)
Hi,
i am testint FF 1.5 loader since your RC 3 Release. I use pFF on my local harddrive in a true crypt container for security reason. I don't need the splash screen and i try to disable it via *.INI file:
...
DisableSplashScreen=true
...
But PortableFirefox Loader is ignoring these settings. Is see splash screen every time. I noticed that splash screen must be included in *.exe. I deleted *.jpg but the screen is still there!
