font display issues after update from 43 to 44

Submitted by alessazoe on February 15, 2016 - 10:36am

Hi there,

after updating my Firefox Portable from 43.0.4 to 44.0.2, some text is displayed wonky here and there. The fonts look pixelated and sometimes also the colour is off, interestingly.

I remembered I had issues with this before and that I fixed it with either hardware accelation and/or anti-alias settings, so I fiddled with these in the FF config, but it didn’t change anything. I also checked my Windows settings, all fine, ClearType is on and fine-tuned. I also re-started FF in Safe Mode, the problem persisted.

Updating firefox with the built-in updater

Does it make any difference if I update firefox with the built-in updater?
I've been doing that until now, but I read in the firefox support page that I could lose some data.....??
Nothing bad has happened yet, but I just want to know if it's ok to update firefox with the built-in updater...
Thanks in advance... Smile

Mozilla Firefox Update Options?

Submitted by SGB74 on February 9, 2016 - 10:51am

Would it be possible to somehow show both iterations of the 32 and 64bit builds of firefox when an user does an update, possibly in the form of a check box. So they can determine if they even want the 64bit version. I recently updated Firefox portable, and the 64bit version seems to be not responsive as its 32bit counterpart. And I'm running this on Windows 10 x64. So I took the liberty of removing the 64bit directory once again, as this isn't the first time I've had issues with the 64bit version of Firefox.

Firefox 3.5

I've never used portable app before, so have a couple newbie questions. First, I'm wanting to run Firefox 3.5 as portable. Do I have to put it on a flash drive, or will a CD/DVD work? How do add-ons figure in...will these be downloaded into the same flash drive, or CD/DVD....or is it handled different? Lastly, I'd like to know everything I can about portable apps. Any links to tutorials or other in-depth sources of info? Thanks!
