Mozbackup to Firefox Portable

Submitted by sniffy on January 15, 2015 - 9:27am

I have created a backup of my Firefox browser, using MozBackup 1.5.1. Previously, I have used this several times and transferred the copied browser to every new laptop and desktop I own - Without a single problem.

Some years ago I used MozBackup to copy by browser to my portable application of Firefox. I wish I could remember exactly how I did as I am struggling now. The problem I am encountering is, which destination folder do I choose in the portable version of Firefox to install the backup?

So far I have selected: Firefox portable > App > Default Data > Profile.

Firefox https problem? : Error code: sec_error_bad_signature.

Submitted by mindstormer on January 3, 2015 - 7:27pm

Was using Firefox Portable the other day and my sessions got screwed up so I decided to delete all the files and install the latest version fresh. Most of the https sites I went to gave me the error: sec_error_bad_signature, which I found out was something to do with certification validation. I read more on it and turns out that turning off https scanning in Avast solved my problem, but I'm not sure if this is a safe solution or something that is a bug by Firefox.

Bug, or what? FF was outdated but didn't see any updates...?

When I went into Help>About> the other day, I noticed my portable Firefox was outdated (said 34.0.0, not 34.0.5) and it said that my Firefox was up to date, which I knew was incorrect. I know the .5 release included a critical fix for a vulnerability that was found... so it's kinda scary I was going a few days without. I tried it a few more times, had no luck finding an update through this so I manually updated through portableapps.com...

FirefoxPortable.exe is growing while in use

Submitted by Chickenman on December 23, 2014 - 3:07am

After installation the size of the FirefoxPortable.exe is 211kb. When it has been in use for some time, the size grows up to 290kb until it won't open anymore and an error pops up accusing an improper configuration. I make renamed copies of the original exe and replace the corrupt one from time to time. Does anyone have an explanation what is happening here?

Thanks Alexander
