Can't Log Into The support.mozilla.org Site - Anyone Have Contact

Submitted by tanker on September 15, 2014 - 1:11pm

I don't know where else to go to get information. There isn't a "help" like link on the page. The "Contact Us" link leads to corporate type addresses.

I last accessed my account on support.mozilla.org late March this year. Now when I try to log in using email address (username) and password. I get the error:

"Username may contain only English letters, numbers and ./-/_ characters."

After getting this I thought I may have the wrong username and forgot to record it. I used the "I forgot my username." link and found I was using the correct username (my email address).

Profile 2 ways

I'm running the latest version of PortableApps, v12.0.5, with quite a few other progs w/o any problems (W7 64-bit).
I now also installed yr portable Firefox, v32.0.1, very neat. All installed on a second built-in hd.

My issue is the profile, should it be at ...C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles (9.87 MB) and also at C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles (24.8 MB)?

When I start from a desktop shortcut (FirefoxPortable.exe) I can do all, no problem, made it my default browser.

portable renders a page differently than desktop version

Submitted by MartinN on September 5, 2014 - 7:13am

Hello,
I'm using Firefox on my own private machines and I find it runs perfectly.
Now I tried since FF 30 the portable version and I found that pages are rendered differently than Firefox installed versions.
You can reproduce this and see the differences by visiting pages on www.t-online.de.
Here are on multiple pages boxes containing social media bookmarks and also links for printing, mailing and settings. The installed version of Firefox shows these boxes as expected. Only in ff portable these boxes are shown in a strange way.
What please can be the reason? Are some settings wrong?

[Closed] Some favicons don't appear in Firefox 32

Submitted by Drugoy on September 4, 2014 - 8:04am

There's a bug in Firefox 32, that some tabs miss the favicons: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1061456
The bug is caused by the introduction of the new cache and shows up in case pref "browser.cache.disk.enable" is set to "0" and "browser.cache.disk.smart_size.enabled" set to "false".

IIRC, the portable container for firefox sets those values forcefully, that's why I'm writing this here.

Flash portable bypassing Protected Mode?

Submitted by Muffinman123 on September 2, 2014 - 3:17pm

n6w36 mentioned the reason why flash portable doesn't work on any computer was because adobe added protected mode last year
https://portableapps.com/node/37978
and he mentioned the users can only disable it if they have admin access

but one thing I noticed is that protected mode setting doesn't affect opera 12 portable which came out this april. until I came across n6w36's solution, I was using opera all this time. having 2 browsers at the same time was a resource hog sure, but opera 12 portable was the only thing that could use flash at the time.

so this brings the question

installing MozFireFoxPortable on a thumb drive

Submitted by johndouglasdahl on August 25, 2014 - 11:38pm

howdy,
Do i absolutely need to install Mozilla Firefox on my pc hard drive to run/use MozFireFoxPortable from an external thumb drive ?

i've been trying to use MFFPortable for several days and am as confused as hell whether i'm in MozFF or MozFFPortable. most of the time i am certain i'm in the MozFF application and not using the portable

FFPortable says their product is sooooooooo easy to install; well it was "easy". they don't say it is easy to USE and SETUP with confidence, or to move the profile and favorites from MozFF to MozFFPortable

FirefoxESR and Multiple Profiles. 2ndProfile hardcodes pathname breaking ESR

Our NetGear network switches can only be managed by particular versions of particular web browsers. The best one right now is Firefox Extended Support Release 17.0.7. We can not upgrade to new versions of their firmware without an old webbrowser. At least it is not as bad as only working with IE6 in a largely Linux shop ( nightmares of the Linksys SRW24 ).

i am very very familiar with having Firefox use multiple profiles but i have been spending all day to try to get this to work with FirefoxESR 17.
