Submitted by tradeinthailand on September 7, 2008 - 2:50am

Hi All,

About two months ago I discovered Portable Apps and now run 75% of the s/w I use from my USB mem. I don't know how I got by before.

At this moment I am finding out. I have to monitor many email accounts so Thunderbird Portable was ideal set up in imap mode. Today I have no idea why I get the error message "Could not connect to mail server, ........... the connection was refused.". I have no idea what to do.

Running
Windows XP SP 2.
Thunderbird Ver. 2.0.0.16

Windows XP's Error Report notification

Submitted by ChuckT on September 6, 2008 - 11:50am

The U3 application was working fine for months, then all of a sudden every time I try to start Thunderbird 2.0.0.16 from ScanDisk I get windows Error Report notification window and thunderbird shuts down. I take the ScanDisk to another computer and it works fine. Tells me that one computer is ok and the other one has a problem. Anyone might know what that problem is and how to fix it?

A Real puzzler...

Wheels Coming Off PortableApps Thunderbird

Issue list is three problems and growing...

Empty Trash Folder
First sign of trouble was the Empty Trash Folder Problem reported February 25, 2008. There is no solution, so I've been living with it ever since.

Change Account Settings
Second problem presented itself in July 2008. TB will not allow me to change any account settings. Actually I can change anything, but the OK button does nothing, and the only way out is to CANCEL. This sucks.

Thunderbird and RSS

Most times when I click a subscribe rss link in a website, it sends me to a feedburner website, with a plethora of options for rss readers of all types. One option is also "Universal Subscription Mechanism"...

To many options, and I've had mixed results; what do I click on, or copy and paste, to subscribe the rss with my thunderbird program from the feedburner website?

No prblems at all (touch wood)

When I read the topics posted in this forum, I cannot fathom that people manage to have so many problems with TBP - I mean, I have 3 different TBPs (one exclusively for web mail accounts) running on my home PC (XP SP3), sometimes all or just one are transferred to a USB stick or portable drive and used off-premises, then copied back, but I've never (yeah, I know I shouldn't say this, but "touch wood") had any of the problems posted here. The updates are a wizz, everything in its place, the proper updates works from minute 1 (I wish other portable apps projects e.g.

I can't download new messages

Submitted by E W on August 21, 2008 - 10:56am

Hello,

I installed the Thunderbird portable edition (version 2.0.0.16 (20080708)), for a while. It has been working perfectly until last update.
Now it keeps trying dowload all messages from the 15.th of january until 20.th of July then stops and tell me "there are no new messages on the server" (there are quite a lot !).

I try to delete profiles, to re install the programm (old and updated versions).... always the same !

Thank you for your help.
