Thunderbird and RSS

Submitted by sisyphusnz on August 24, 2008 - 5:47pm

Most times when I click a subscribe rss link in a website, it sends me to a feedburner website, with a plethora of options for rss readers of all types. One option is also "Universal Subscription Mechanism"...

To many options, and I've had mixed results; what do I click on, or copy and paste, to subscribe the rss with my thunderbird program from the feedburner website?

No prblems at all (touch wood)

When I read the topics posted in this forum, I cannot fathom that people manage to have so many problems with TBP - I mean, I have 3 different TBPs (one exclusively for web mail accounts) running on my home PC (XP SP3), sometimes all or just one are transferred to a USB stick or portable drive and used off-premises, then copied back, but I've never (yeah, I know I shouldn't say this, but "touch wood") had any of the problems posted here. The updates are a wizz, everything in its place, the proper updates works from minute 1 (I wish other portable apps projects e.g.

I can't download new messages

Submitted by E W on August 21, 2008 - 10:56am

Hello,

I installed the Thunderbird portable edition (version 2.0.0.16 (20080708)), for a while. It has been working perfectly until last update.
Now it keeps trying dowload all messages from the 15.th of january until 20.th of July then stops and tell me "there are no new messages on the server" (there are quite a lot !).

I try to delete profiles, to re install the programm (old and updated versions).... always the same !

Thank you for your help.

Can't edit tasks after updating to 2.0.0.16

Submitted by jeremyhunter on August 17, 2008 - 6:52pm

Auto update ran. I can create new tasks but when I go to edit them I can't. It just shows the title and the date (blank) even though one is set and an okay button. Same for old and new tasks, i.e. even if I create a new task in the new version, I can't edit it once I've saved it. Any recommendations?

Thunderbird outgoing password

Submitted by typhoonikan on August 13, 2008 - 11:18pm

Thunderbird portable is amazing and I am a teacher and use it everyday to download all my emails instead of using the yucky webmail crap the county gives us.

But

We got a new system and for some reason the outgoing server requires a different username and password than the incoming server. This is a problem for me with Thunderbird because it only lets you alter the username for the outgoing server. It does not allow you to set a different password to go along with that other username.

So its rendered useless to me for this problem.
What should I do?

Enigmail issues with TB Portable 2.0.0.16

Submitted by JP_Cda on August 11, 2008 - 10:12pm

Anyone else having issues with their Enigmail after updating to TB Portable ver. 2.0.0.16?

For some reason, I'm getting continuous error messages that Enigmail is failing to initialize when trying to run anything that requires Enigmail after I updated to 2.0.0.16.

Currently, I'm running it within the following environment:

1. Portable USB Drive (Western Digital 160GB) on Win XP SP3, via the Portable Apps launcher.

2. TB Portable is ver. 2.0.0.16, with GPG for TB Portable ver. 1.4.9 (I originally had 1.4.7, but upgraded as I suspected this was the issue).
