Thunderbird Problem: getting email - connection timeout

Submitted by portableuser1 on August 2, 2008 - 3:19pm

The PC version of thunderbird does not time out while retrieving email, but the portable version does.

Another user had reported the same problem.

This problem occurs not just on my machine or my network but for several of my friends and other networks. So it has to do with thunderbird portable.

I did some search and found that there is a way to increase connection time out time, but this is not available in the portable version.

Thunderbird Portable is awesome!

Usually, people only post when they have a problem. This time I just wanted to say that Thunderbird Portable is awesome! So far I have not had any problems with it after installing it three weeks ago. Keep up the good work! It is the perfect solution for people on the go. Now they just need to make a Thunderbird Webmail version! haha

Thanks,

How can I open TB Portable from USB-Stick on Linux (EeePC)? And how can I transfer my TB portable to the EeePC?

Submitted by M.Franken on July 21, 2008 - 12:10pm

Can anyone help me?

I'm not a PC professional so I would be grateful for any easy step-by-step advise.

I finally found the folder manager on the EeePC - is it possible that it doesn't work because e.g. the thunderbird address book on the PC has the ending ".xpt" and the TB portable on my USB stick ".mab"

I really appreciate any advise!

Thunderbird Profile Suddenly Missing

Submitted by reudaly on July 18, 2008 - 9:47am

I'm using Thunderbird Portable while my main computer is being fixed. It's worked fine for weeks now -- both on XP and Vista. I'm currently running on a machine with XP Pro.

Today, I opened up the application, and my profile was GONE. The app wanted me to create a new email account. I have the profile folder and all seems fine, but it's just not reading it.

What can I do to fix this?

Accounts not made

I use TB on desktop + laptop, and installed it on a USB-stick that came with the U3 system for portable applications.
I liked that, but decided tu use the more open system "Portable Apllications".
Firefox worked immediately. Thunderbird can be started, but on creating the accounts nothing is saved, the row of mail accounts stays completely empty...
What now?
