How to force a POP download?

Submitted by JimND on October 24, 2008 - 6:12pm

I've just moved over to Thunderbird from Pegasus mail, and am using version 2.0.0.17 (20080914). I have some notes on my mailserver that I can't force to download.

According to the main Thunderbird site, deleting x:\ThunderbirdPortable\Data\profile\Mail\/popstate.dat should force a reload, and the dat file should have all sorts of info in there. The file doesn't have anything in it except a warning not to edit, and deleting it does nothing. None of the dat files for other pop servers contain anything either.

Script or Plug-in to Empty Trash That's Older Than X Days??

Submitted by sugardaddy on October 23, 2008 - 4:56pm

When I empty the trash, I would like to have the most recently-deleted items remain in the Trash just a little longer, in case I want to look at them again.

But if I use the Empty Trash command, all of them go away. Whether it keeps them a week or two weeks, or even just a couple of days, I don't care. I just would like a little margin.

I don't know what mechanisms are in place to allow this kind of customization.

Any ideas?

[FIXED] mimetypes.rdf bigger then 500 MB Thunderbird 2.0.0.17

Submitted by yta11p on October 23, 2008 - 3:22pm

I have the same problem as reported some days ago. I have used version 2.0.0.17. And as soon as I got an email with an attachment, mainly pdf-files, the program needs up to 10 minutes to start and the mimetypes.rdf file increases up to 500 MB or more. And the program crashes as it is not possible anymore to open emails containing an attachment. This is independent of using a notebook or USB device. It working sometimes to delete the mimetypes.rdf file, but this has worked out just a few times. Now, I changed back to 2.0.0.16 and everything is fine! What's wrong?

Portable Thunderbird crashed

Submitted by huberuae on October 23, 2008 - 6:45am

Dear Community,

I'm running TB Portable on a USB stick. Somehow TB has crashed - leaving all previous folders and mails blank, asking me to create new accounts. The entire size of the TB folder is still > 100 MB.

How can I restore all my mails of 3 different accounts?

Your help will be highly appreciated.

Hi! My first post here.

I'm using thunderbird email client version 2.0.0.17 (20080914) on my U3 flash drive.

It doesn't work in Windows Vista and XP (fresh installations).

I've tried windows update and the Windows XP is SP3 now. The problem still remains.

Please kindly give me a hand.

Thanks in advance.

AdditionalParameters=-profile "C:Path\to\your\profile"
