Spaghetti sorter?

Submitted by PollieXmas on May 11, 2006 - 12:13pm

Hi All,

My migration path to TB has got me tied in such knots that I don't know how to untangle myself...

I was using McAffee spam filter at the time I setup TB. This meant that my mailboxes were setup (physical directories) as 127.0.0.1-1 or something like that.

I only migrated my personal aacounts as a trial.

Several machines later and too many rebuilds that should be necessary for anyone to have to do, I finally discovered U3, despite the fact that I had several copies of PortableApps downloaded on my machine. At the time the (PA) mountain was just too high for me to climb...

Installing portTB wiped my local copy

Submitted by jasom on May 9, 2006 - 3:47am

I downloaded portTB and installed it on my thumbdrive - no prob. Copied my preferences across and got it all set up. Sweet. Then I ejected the thumbdrive and went to open my local version of TB and (argh!) I get the New Account Wizard opening up and a blank TB.

All the files appear intact in my App support/etc but TB is not picking them up. I am running XP.

Any help gratefully appreciated

Imported Address Books

Submitted by M.Temp on May 8, 2006 - 5:02pm

Hi,

I have problems with imported address books (impab.mab, impab-x.mab).
If I click on an importat address book, the only message which appears is "No mathces found", but the files impab.mab, impab.mab-1, etc, exist!
So what can I do that my address books are syncronized?

Thanks
M.Temp

Proxy Authentication

Submitted by adamson67 on May 8, 2006 - 4:29pm

I've configured proxy settings in Thunderbird and the authentication window does not appear. Connection to the pop server then times out.

I use the same url as my web browser, so I know I am using the correct settings.

Is there anything else that needs to be configured?

Using portable thunderbird in a public library PC

Submitted by barryoor on May 7, 2006 - 9:35am

Hi Everyone,
I have been following this portable apps development with great interest as it ideally suits me. I do have my own laptop but without internet access.I can use the internet from the library.
The problem is I think the library PCs do not allow portable thunderbird to access the mails via POP3 protocol. IS there a way to get my mails into my flash from the library computer. Every time when i try it says your connection timed out and nothing happens.
Cud any one help me out please?
on the other hand yahoo messenger works fine from portable GAIM
I am desperate to get an answer and would be very grateful if any one helps me out.

TB Mobility issue - 1.5.0.2

Submitted by Axim5 on May 4, 2006 - 3:32pm

Hi,

Recently I downloaded Protable TB (1.5.0.2)on my USB card. I am also using Portable FF.

I setup TB to manage my Gmail and Sympatico (ISP provider) account through TB. As long as I am using portable TB from my home computer it works fine but when I try at my work I get the error message "Connection to server pop.gmail.com time out". Similarly, when I am using Sympatico account I get "Connection to server smtp8.sympatico.ca time out".

The whole purpose of using Portable TB is to use single e-mail interface to get acces to my e-mails wheverevr I am.

I may be doing some thing wrong but so far I am unable to findout what and how to fix it.
