Thunderbird Portable

When I begin to type in an email address no email addresses are offered up to complete the address. The address book is there and I can select addresses from the book and choose write and they show up in the blank email.

In a perhaps related issue, the Add-on "Quickfile" pops up its dialog box without problem but doesn't find any folder names as you type them in.

Anyone seen similar problems? Running under WinXP.

Any advice on reverting from 3.0 to 2.0.0.23?

I've been using portable apps from a long time ago without problems.
I have an a Gmail account with IMAP protocol which use in my house, office or portable version without a hiccup until... I tried Thunderbird v. 3 and this is what happened:

After testing this version and see that some addons and Lighting won't work I decided to put on hold more time for this version.

Recover all my configurations

I have acquired a new PC.
In the old one I have installed TB portable in a data disk Y:

In the new one I repeat the experience creating an equal data disk Y:

I have installed TB portable on Y: disk.

I copied all related files from Y:\PORTABLES\Navegadores . Internet . Correo\ThunderbirdPortable to the new pc with the same folder.

I have now all accounts recovered and news, but the addons seemed not to be active.

version in old and new pc : 1.2.1.2

Have I to copy anything else ?

It used to work for TB2.

For TB3 I now just have a message "does not provide secure updates" in the Add-ons screen.

I tried adding boolean "extensions.checkUpdateSecurity=false" as outlined in mozillazine but it does not seem to work.

I have just upgraded to thunderbird 3 and have found it to be very sluggish in all respects.

I am running it on a Corsair 16gb Flash Voyager GT drive which is about as fast as a usb flash drive comes.

I have found that switching off Global Search & Indexer fixes the issue, and i think even makes it faster than tbird 2!

Only thing is that it also switches off one of the fantastic new features of Tbird 3

Has anyone else come up with a better solution? My mail folder is approx 1gb.

TBP fails to send mail, I can recive mail från others without any problem.
When I try to send mail the ususal password question and after a couple of seconds I got a sign with buttons 'Retry','New password' and 'Cancel'. Didn't matter if I set the correct password or not the same sign popped up.

I deleted and reconfigurated the SMTP and still the same. After that I reconfigured the whole account but no differens. Then I downgraded to TBP 2.0.0.23 and it worked directly.

I've decided to run my email program from my Thunderbird portable on my thumb drive only. How can I move all my files and messages from my Thunderbird on my hard drive to my Thunderbird portable. Can't drag and dump, because I can't open both at one time. Can anyone help me on this one?

I have upgraded my Thunderbird 2.0.23 to version 3.0 and it "lost" my gmail connection and my lightening extension (for dates). Do I have to totally reconfigure version 3.0 or is this a bug or an incompatibility of version 3.0?

I have two copies of Thunderbird 2.0.23 (build 20090812). I notice that the dates on the exe's are different, but when I do an about I get the same build number.

Here is the problem I am having....I am sure that it is a Windows 7 "feature" but I can't figure out why it is happening...

anyone encounter this problem during installation? it prompts error during installation.

tested installed on both version 2.0.0.23 and 3.0.0

how to fix it?
