Thunderbird 3.0: "Check mail" doesn't work

Submitted by stormowl on December 10, 2009 - 3:23am

Hi there!
I already had problems with the "Check mail" button under Thunderbird 2.x (solved it by using the "Get all mails" plugin). Now after upgrading to Thunderbird 3.0 I have the same problem again. Furthermore the "Get all mail" plugin is not working anymore now, too.
This means: When I try to check for mail via menu, tool bar button or "Get all mail" button just nothing happens at all. Sending mail is working fine.

Any help would be highly appreciated! Thanks! Smile

Outlook Express, importing multiple indentities

Submitted by cajnik on December 10, 2009 - 2:45am

Hi, I installed thunderbird portable and imported everything from Outlook Express. It went great. Problem is, I was using 2 identities in Outlook Express and I got everything imported from the first, but nothing from the second.
I tried switching the identities in Outlook Express but Thunderbird portable always imports everything from the first identity?
Please help.
Thank you!

TBP 3. Archive function, email 'disappears' FIXED

Submitted by gimfred on December 10, 2009 - 1:04am

I have upgraded to tbp 3 today (09/12/10) and I've noticed that I am losing emails that I archive. I have emails in the archive from the 8th 12, so I have effectively lost two days of emails.

I tested this by emailing myself and archiving the email. It disappears. It isn't in the archive 'folder' nor can it be found by searching. I can get the test email back by ctrl+z, but that only works for the emails archived in this session.

I've also tested this in RC2 and it has the same problem.

I've set tbp3 to never delete emails.

Thunderbird 3.0 "Add Security Exception" window still opens!

Submitted by Wizard on December 10, 2009 - 12:57am

Hi!
I have 2 partitions in my system, C: which is restored after every reboot (using Deep Freeze) and D: which holds all my portable applications.

I've clean-installed Portable Thunderbird 3.0 in D: and the first time I created an account, a "Add Security Exception" window appeared for IMAP server, so I clicked "Confirm security exception" and ticked "Permanently store this exception".

The thing is that every time I reboot, the first time I launch Thunderbird, this window still appears!

Is this info not stored in the Thunderbird directory?

Common Thunderbird 3.0 Upgrade Issues

Here are some common issues people experience when upgrading to 3.0:

  1. Asking For Master Password - This appears to be an issue with manually imported certificates. A possible solution has been posted.
  2. Blank or Error-Filled Screen Thunderbird Screen - This can be due to the Kaspersky antispam extension which can be manually removed to fix it.

Password Required!?!

I'm not sure what is happening here, but when I upgraded from TB2P to TB3P I get a password dialog asking for master password for the Software Security Device. I've never set a master password for TB and I can't close the window now.

Luckily, I was able to revert to TB2 and keep my data. Does anyone have any idea what I need to do to keep the password dialog from coming up when I upgrade to TB3?

Thanks,

Andy

Change std config to leave messages on server?

Submitted by timmy on December 6, 2009 - 9:37am

Hi,

I am using Gmail as my main mail, and was trying out TB Portable some time ago. The standard setting in TB was to NOT leave messages on server. Maybe my fault for not checking, but the result was that my test run of TB cleaned out my Gmail totally which wasn't my intention at all.

My suggestion would be to change the standard configuration in TB Portable to leave messages on server.
