programme hangs when opening folder with new emails

Submitted by g.beck on December 14, 2008 - 7:46pm

Hi,
I don't manage to read my new emails since two hours and now decided to search for support here.

I use TBP 2.0.0.18 with wine.

When I tried to open a local folder (IMAP) containing new emails, the programme hanged. The problem did not occur with unread emails, only with folders with emails I just downloaded (and with one folder whose only special characteristic is that it is a sub-folder of another folder). After minimizing and resizing I was only able to see the title bar of TBP and so I terminated the programme.

Things I tried already:

Default Folder on Startup

Submitted by stevelw on December 11, 2008 - 1:59pm

I love Thunderbird - in fact I have just switched over to it from Outlook (mainly because I can run it from memory stick and use it on any computer I happen to be using at the time).

My only niggle at the moment is that I don't seem to be able to persuade it to select the inbox as the default folder on startup which is frustrating to say the least. At the moment every time I run the program I end up looking at the junk folder. ](*,)

Is there any way to achieve this?

setting handlers to progs on stick

Submitted by ottosykora on December 8, 2008 - 6:40am

OK, since there might be some issue when running mime types calling up external programs placed on other drives, I tried to set in portable TB progs which are on my stick.
So for jpg and doc (open office) etc. When it came to pdf however, I was allowed only to use the sumatra on stick explicitly selecting it, but the tickbox where one can say it should use it from now always is grayed out iin this case and can not be selected. I would have to manually select sumatra each time.
Why is this so? Why can I select for jpg and doc and others some progs free but not for the pdf?

Loss account

Submitted by peterho386 on December 7, 2008 - 3:18am

I just tried to check my email. Started Thunderbird 2.0.0.14 and it wants me to set up email accounts. It is acting like it can't find any of my settings, old mail etc.

The "prefs.js" 13kB and "abook.mab" 183kB are there

I did not re-install and setup a new account.

But we would like to get back my email and account.

Help!
Thanks

Using TB inside Sandboxie --- what recovery settings

Submitted by pwright2 on December 6, 2008 - 4:50pm

Is anybody using Thunderbird Portable inside Sandboxie? What settings do you make so that emails and installs are not lost when sandbox closes and you don't have to spend all evening clicking 'overwrite file' verifications? Sandboxie has standard settings for regular TB but TBP is invisible to it.

'Check for new messages every X minutes' not persistent

Submitted by Frank1 on December 3, 2008 - 3:46pm

Setting the 'Check for new messages every X minutes' on in the Server Settings stays set while TBP is running. But, when TBP is closed and relaunched this setting is turned off.

I have two copies of TBP, my wife's copy behaves the same way.
I really need this feature, can please someone help?
Thanks
