Setup Help

Submitted by Kussetsu on November 11, 2008 - 2:51am

Hello everyone... I have just installed TB Portable, and now I need help setting it up. I would like to set it up for yahoo if possible. I need to know EXACTLY what to do from the first run... that means with the account wizard and everything... I have read that to do yahoo, I need either Yahoo Plus or YPOPS... don't wanna pay for Yahoo Plus and YPOPS seems feasible - if it is portable... I also read something about a webmail add-on that can do the yahoo feature... but I have NO idea on how to set up an email client...

Passwords and file sizees

Hello
This is my first post here.
I installed Thunderbird Portable without any trouble.
When I setup the accounts I noticed that there was no field for the account pasword like in Outlook Express.
When I tried to check for emails, of course there was a popup requesting the password. This popup ocurs every time Thunderbird is launched. I noticed that there is a check box for using a 'Password controler' (or something similar in name). Once I checked this box my password is now remebered.

My question is, where is this password controlling application?

Lost email folders and email in Portable Thunderbird

Submitted by cacofonix on November 10, 2008 - 1:31pm

Hello to the forum,
I have Mozilla Thunderbird for Portable Apps. A couple of days ago, I removed my USB stick without save & remove process. As a result, my sub-folders renamed, and I lost every email in these folders.

What process should I use to recover my email and folders?
All folders that were renamed were in Greek language.

Do Extensions, Plugins need to be installed for TBP AND...Firefox ?

Submitted by DADSGETNDOWN on November 9, 2008 - 3:56pm

I see the EXACT same plugin or Extension,
Available for firefox AND Thunderbird.

Do we need to install a second copy if things like Adblock
in Thunderbird ?
Even though I have it in firefox, but it's not usually running.
And Thunderbird is a seperate App.
So you end up with an extension or pluging,
Installed in Firefox AND another one in Thunderbird.

When you read the description, if you are at firefox addons
it says for firefox.

download and remove your mail from the server

Submitted by DADSGETNDOWN on November 9, 2008 - 1:54am

Hello boys and girls. I am using "version 2.0.0.17 (20080914)"
In the section,
Using Thunderbird with Webmail (Hotmail, Yahoo, etc)
it says,
"Thunderbird is configured to download and remove your mail from the server by default. If you don't want that to happen, update your account settings after setting up your account" (and before checking your email).

The question is,
Exactly where AND what setting or SETTINGS do I
need to set or unset to make SURE, ALL my emails remain
on hotmail ?
I do not see a definitive area, sorry.
