Trojan detected by ClamAV in current release, false +ve?

Submitted by cookd on August 19, 2009 - 2:22am

Hi there,

Just installed latest Standard Suite onto a new USB drive. Updated ClamAV after install completed. Set it to scan the drive and got a reported infection as follows:

Z:\PortableApps\OpenOfficePortable\App\openoffice\Basis\program\sfxmi.dll - infected with Trojan.Agent-121386

I looked on virustotal.com and that file has 1 report on their last update against e-Safe. Another site has more details http://virscan.org/report/3faebb1c5858f1b1fa2df5065906932a.html

Submitted by GrahamG on August 15, 2009 - 7:33am

Tried using AVZ application to perform malware scan on my system.

Everything fine except for the following:

"OpenOfficePortable\App\openoffice\Basis\program\vos3MSC.dll >>> suspicion for Net-Worm.Win32.Allaple.b ( 0AE936D0 069C58F0 00237680 00236DF5 57856)"

Just curious to know if anyone has come across the same?

Cheers,
Graham

EuroOffice_Online_Clipart.oxt unable install extension to openoffice 3.1 portable

Submitted by deodion on July 11, 2009 - 4:13am

i downloaded the extension from
http://www.multiracio.com/eurooffice/downloads/EuroOffice_Online_Clipart...

when i try to add it, the openoffice will crash, i suspect thats because the extension needs pointer to recognized browser to install this correctly. the extension supposedly work in oo 3.1 mainly to connect to wikimedia commons database.

win xp sp0, stripped down by nlite.com, almost complete removal unwanted stuff.
only install needed drivers,
using all portable programs, such as portable firefox, etc.

Network connection issue (email mail merge function of OOwriter)

Submitted by mglesser on July 8, 2009 - 3:31am

Hello,

First of all, thank you very much for your work (apps and support).

I have a problem with the email mail merge function of OpenOffice portable. When testing the email server parameters by clicking :

Tools > Options > OpenOffice.org Writer > Mail Merge E-mail
Test Settings

I get :

Establish network connection : Failed
Find outgoing mail server : Failed

Everything works fine with exactely the same settings under a static version of OO. Surprisingly (for me at least), it also works with portable OO when a static version is installed on the computer.

I updated OpenOffice to version 3.1. Saving a new Writer document give the error..

OpenOfficePortable\Data\settings\user\..\..\..\..\..\Documents does not exist.

..each time before showing the normal "Save as" window.
