OpenOffice Portable

Consistent crashing on various "Close" operations (3.0.1, OOO300m15 (Build:9379))

Submitted by gudmund on June 18, 2009 - 5:20am

Hello,

just wondering if anyone else is experiencing what I do, and if anyone knows the cause and a remedy.

Nearly every time I close *anything* in OpenOffice, it crashes, and starts file recovery + error reporting, apparently regardless of document type (.odt, .ods, .sxw, .doc, .pps, .xls...).

Instances when it rather consistently crashes:
- Clicking the [X] at the top right corner of the current document window
- Clicking "Close" in the Files menu
- Clicking [Close] in the Find dialogue
- Closing OOo with Alt+F4

Paper dimensions, paper size incorrect in writer

Submitted by briguy is I on June 7, 2009 - 4:21pm

I have a problem with Open Office writer portable. When the program opens, the paper dimensions are not accurate. I have tried to change the page dimensions to "letter" and "portrait" settings but the dimensions still do not change. The paper will not fit correctly on the screen and goes off the screen, is not centered properly, and dimensions are not "8 1/2" x "11" Actual dimensions are about "7 and 10"

Also, the font size is not accurate to the currently listed size and is much larger than stated in the menu.

Submitted by h.nekkers on June 3, 2009 - 11:12am

Hello,

I installed OpenOffice Portable on a networkshare, so it could be used by all our students. I directed all the path to the homedir H: I start OpenOffice-->Writer and on exit from writer a get an error. I found there is created a tmp dir in the homedir which is read-only and isn't deleted on exit. What am I doing wrong? How to solve this problem. Our student are common-users and have full access/control to there home-dir.

Writer Toolbars Not Staying Closed

Submitted by youngheart80 on May 22, 2009 - 12:38pm

Hey all,

I've looked to see if anyone else has reported this, either for the portable version or the standard version, but haven't seen anything so thought I would address it here.

I've got a new install of OpenOffice 3.0.1 paf. When I start up Writer, I've got a ton of toolbars opened in the toolbar area. I try to close all the toolbars that I don't need, but as soon as I restart the program, they all come back. They take up about half the window. Frustrating.

Running OpenOffice 3.0.1 base install - no extensions, no templates, no image pack - on Windows XP Pro.

OpenOfficePortable not honoring "WaitForOpenOffice" setting INI file

Submitted by pergh on May 13, 2009 - 6:20am

I have seen people mention that they use the "WaitForOpenOffice=true" setting to get OO portable from forking. I don't get this to work.

I've verified that OO reads the ini file, as the "DisableSplashScreen=true" works fine.

Is there something I have missed here? I'm using a Windows XP and starting using a console window (cmd) (batch-file).
