Windows can't find it....

Submitted by gwc42 on January 28, 2009 - 8:58am

I wonder if someone could help me. I have openoffice 3 on a laptop running windows XP. The software runs OK But I can't seem to start it up by double-clicking a document (which I used to be able to do). Furthermore, if I right-click and select "choose program to open with" (or whatever the wording is) OO doesn't appear on the list. I can navigate to the folder (under AppsPortable in my root C drive) but can't selectt the program. I can drag documents onto a shortcut on the desktop and they will open, but this is tedious, I want to be able to simply double click as I used to. Any ideas?

oop 3.0 does not save documents when login as "user"

Hallo,

I just downloaded and "installed" the german version of oop 3.0 on an english Windows 2000 Server with Citrix Presentaton Server 4.0 using the administrator account. However, when I use writer or calc with "user" privileges now (and not as "administrator" - this way everything is okay) and try to save a file I receive the error message (I have to translate german to english):

"Error when saving the document TEST"
"Error when saving the file"

OOO 3.0 installation failure

First of all I want to thank the PortableApps.com people.

Unfortunately I'm having difficulties installing portable OOO 3.0.
The installation of the prerelease failed because of a writing error. I waited for the final release hoping the problem would be fixed, but i still get a writing error, forcing me to cancel further installation.

This is where the installation fails:

"Extract: ofapi.rdb... 62%"

-> popup error window:

"Extract: error writing to file offapi.rdb"

Open Office 2 - nicer/ faster/ better than 3?

Submitted by fergus on January 2, 2009 - 9:31am

Well: everything seems to peak. Remember how lovely DOS 3.30 was and how awful 4; how much nicer Office 2003 is than the horrendous 2007; how useable XP is and how un-useable Vista?
I feel the same about OO 2 as compared with OO 3 which is bulky, unnecessary and so S-L-O-W. Can anybody point me back to a source for
OpenOffice.org_Portable_2.?_en-us.paf.exe
please? Thank you very much.
Fergus
