Ok, I've installed openoffice.org to my portable device. Now, how do I run it?

I am asking, because its NOT listed in the portableapps menu anyplace, so I go into Windows Explorer under G:\Portableapps\Openoficeportable\ which does exist, so I go in there, and there are a bunch of files listed. which one do I click on?

and WHY isn't it listed in the portableapps menu? and why won't it run when I click on a .doc file in Windows? thats what I don't understand....

Advice needed with Integration with complex MS Word docs

Submitted by PollieXmas on October 13, 2008 - 12:44pm

Hi All,

This is the first project where I had to contribute on complex Word documents.

The project team has a mix of Office 2007 and Office 2003 and then me Wink So we have standardized on .doc (2000/XP). I'm not sure if there is a 2003 .doc format as well...

The documents includes styles, TOC, cross references. They also employ "same as previous" to keep the headers and footers in sync across the different sections.

Virus Detected?

Submitted by Dbzdude707 on September 22, 2008 - 5:24pm

I am running Avast antivirus, and tried to download the most recent OpenOffice portable app installer.

It tells me it found a trojan in the file, and this is it's path specifically:

OpenOffice_Portable_2.4.1_en-us.paf.exe.part\$_OUTDIR\openoffice\program\testtool.exe

Any idea? It's probably just an error... It's a free antivirus anyways. Nevertheless, whoever compiled this file might have been trying to give us a trojan.

PS. I used Firefox 3 from my hard drive to download it. You might have realized that I was using it from the path I gave.

Is it possible to create a macro or something so that I can integrate XnView into OpenOffice and/or MS Office so that theres simply a button on the toolbar that opens it. Ive got a large collection of clip art and such that I got from the open clip art site as well as heaps of other pics and I think it would be easier having the key word tags in XnView rather than split in the two offices. So if this can be done can someone please explain how. Also taking portability into consideration as well.

Hallo Leute,

Java and Open Office Writer

Submitted by merhaba346 on September 1, 2008 - 2:08am

Hi,

I need to use Turkish spell check with Open Office (OO). So far the only capable addon i found is something called "Zemberek".

The program can be found at http://code.google.com/p/zemberek/

It needs java to run.

So by using "Java Portablizer 1.1" I added Java to my portable applications environment.

The two places I placed are:

X:\PortableApps\JavaPortablizer
X:\PortableApps\OpenOfficePortable\App\Java

Then i added zemberek to OO through Extension Manager.

However, it does not work.
