Here is a twist of the old card question of making one .exe for all the OpenOffice.org programs or a least a folder on the menu to put them all in.
So I am not sure, but since OpenOffice.org has mulitple .exe, and I have it installed localled on my laptop, I was wondering if folks know how to make a program folder for it so I can put all the OpenOffice.org .exe there.
I suppose I just want it to be similar to other suites I have installed.

Portable OOo 3 beta 2 US English Spell checker

Submitted by bh2ooo on August 8, 2008 - 8:37pm

The Portable OOo 3 beta 2 English version spell check seems broken. Is that from the OOo site like that or is that a PA language tweak issue or was I suppose to set something up verses a default download/install?

All English words are marked as misspelled? Maybe the US dictionary is bad on new or existing documents, and no suggestions are offered.

Anyway, if you select the UK dictionary instead of the default US dictionary, things get much better, maybe perfect, at least where the two agree on spelling (color vs colour).

How to report Bugs in OOo, non portable

Submitted by USBman on August 8, 2008 - 1:06pm

I've just downloaded OOo 3 beta 2 and (sadly) I've already found a number of bugs.

I don't imagine these bugs are anything specific to the portable version, so I won't post them here, but I would like to post them somewhere. Can someone help me and tell me exactly where I might post them so these issues are seen by the OpenOffice team?

I've logged into the OOo website and tried looking, but didn't find anything right away. I'm tired and kranky today, so maybe I just missed it??

How to 'slim' down OO for pdf conversion only?

Submitted by hckherbert on August 8, 2008 - 6:03am

I'm using Open Office Portable to help accomplish document conversion task ( convert input files to pdf) in a .NET application that I'm building. Here is the great article:

http://www.codeproject.com/KB/office/PortableOpenOffice.aspx?msg=2668040...

All the things work fine, the only thing I wanna improve is the large disk space occupied by OO Portable. I find that there are many files and folders in the extracted Open Office Portable. It occupies about 500 MB. So I wanna know which files / folders are not needed if I just wanna use it for document conversion?

Copying Your Local OpenOffice.org Settings to OpenOffice.org Portable - Typo Error

Submitted by dforion on July 29, 2008 - 12:19am

I believe the following support page has a small error: https://portableapps.com/support/openoffice_portable#local_settings -

Under the heading "Copying Your Local OpenOffice.org Settings to OpenOffice.org Portable"

Just copy everything in that directory to the PortableOpenOffice\settings\ directory and you're all set.

This should be :

Just copy everything in that directory to the PortableOpenOffice\DATA\settings\ directory and you're all set.

Submitted by aguillen on July 25, 2008 - 11:23am

When I try to start OpenOffice.org Portable in my PC (128Mb RAM, Celeron 466 Mhz, Windows 2000 Service Pack 4)it fails with the message "soffice.BIN.exe has generated errors..." and I cannot find such file in the app. I didnt remember well but I think in the past I got a similar issue with other app and it was related to fonts in Windows, but I am not sure... May someone help me please?

App resets options

Hello,

first: Greats apps, I use them for a about a year now, nothing but good things to say. Thanks for all your work.

My question (and this bugs me for a while now):

All user-settings (e.g. last documents, the way OOo handles auto-correction, the way it substitutes quotation marks etc.) are set back to default once I close the program. There seem to be no way to save my settings.

Now I understand OOo doesn't write to the registry but any change to the tools bars is saved perfectly.
