Error Opening file for Writing 2.4.1 Upgrade

Submitted by pjamme on July 17, 2008 - 9:13am

I have downloaded the 2.4.1 version twice and tried to install it on two different USB 2GB sticks with 40 to 50% free. I get the same error all four attempts to upgrade the 2.4.0 version.
F:\PortableApps\OpenOfficePortabele\App\openoffice\help\en\schart.idx\LINKNAMES
Click Abort to stop the installation,
Retry to try again, or
Ignore to skip this file.
I have aborted each time, should I try Ignore or is there a problem with the new version installer? Or is there something else I am missing?

Open Office does not work with Vista

Submitted by Euphorion on July 14, 2008 - 2:30am

Hallo

I am running Vista with Service Pack 1 in German on a Fujitsu XI-2550 and OpenOffice does not run. When I start OpenOffice or an OpenOffice application (e.g. Writer) from my stick, the splash screen comes up and after a few seconds Vista informs me that OpenOffice no longer works and creates a report to send to Microsoft and I will be informed later.

The OpenOffice Version that I am using is 2.4.1 US-English. This version works fine on my old Laptop with Windows XP Service Pack 3.

Writer doesn't start.

I installed OpenOffice.org Portable on my Kingston Data Traveler 1Gb. All programs work fine, except for writer.

When I try to run Writer it opens soffice.BIN, initialize, and closes after showing OpenOffice.org splash screen. I've tried to open writer directly and has the same result. When I open another aplication such as calc and then try to open a new Text Document, it does nothing at all.

configuration.xcu corrupted error

Submitted by rpage on June 30, 2008 - 10:51am

When I try to run an open office app I get a message telling me that configuration.xcu is corrupt. You can choose to continue and not load the files but it will fail to load the program. I have even downloaded the portable openoffice by itself and still have the same error. I am running windows xp. Problem happens no matter if it is installed to a thumbdrive or the hard drive.

Ideas? Suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

JDBC connector (Java options)

Submitted by ugm6hr on June 28, 2008 - 6:30pm

I have made a bit of an error with my portable Java installation. I tried to add it from the Options menu in portableOO.org.

I have since read that having used the portablizer BEFORE using OO.org, it should automatically configure it.

However, this isn't really my issue (all the computers I use generally have JRE installed).

I was trying to get OO Base to connect to MySQL via JDBC, which requires the addition of an "archive" in the Java options (to load the JDBC driver). This works in Options->Java->Add Archive... but it doesn't maintain the archive location after restarting.

Unable to start OpenOffice

Submitted by gcatchpole on June 28, 2008 - 8:55am

Hi

I have tried several times to install portable OpenOffice onto a Sandisk Cruzer 1gb flash drive but each time I get the same error message when trying to start the program. This says that
"OpenOffice.org for U3 cannot be started. You may wish to re-install to fix this issue. (ERROR: The program could not be found: \openoffice\program\soffice.exe)"

If I locate the file soffice.exe the program works fine but shortcut from the launchpad menu always results in the above error message.

Any ideas?

Repackaging

Submitted by paperjam on June 24, 2008 - 7:56am

Hi

I would like to customize the OOoPortable 3 Beta (i.e. add two custom-developed extensions) and then repackage and redistribute it. Is it possible to get the NSIS-template so that I don't have to rewrite it from scratch?

Thanks,
paperjam
