Portable Oo quits unexpectedly on File > New

Submitted by haivu on May 23, 2006 - 2:55pm

Setup:
- 1 GB Swissbit USB key
- Portable Apps Suite 1.0 beta

Steps:
1. Run Portable Oo
2. File > New

Result:
The application quits unexpectedly. Note that File>Open, along with other menu choices would cause the same reaction. Some menu choices such as Help>About do not do that.

Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? Thanks.

Local Copy files to flash drive?

Submitted by dford3772 on May 23, 2006 - 10:11am

I have a local copy of OOo. I want my files to be truly portable to any host computer.

Do I understand correctly that I need a thumbdrive copy of OOo? Save my local files to it? How do I
synch ongoing files? Goodsynch or other software?
Thanks for any help,

Strange Cursor Placement in Writer

Submitted by dave.P on May 22, 2006 - 5:54pm

Hi, I have the new version of portable open office. When typing a document the cursor seems to start somewhere different from where the word is typed. A bit tricky to explain, but as I complete typing a word and hit the space bar the cursor jumps out about a Tab Space to the right i.e. much further than the single space you might expect. Then when I start typing the next word the cursor and the letter appear where you expect them i.e. the cursor jumps back to the left. Also at the end of a sentence if I have a fullstop then the cursor remains between the last letter and the fullstop. Very disconcerting if you need to edit the file regularly?

Problems with PortableOpenOffice 2.0.2

Submitted by filobus on May 17, 2006 - 6:26am

I don't understand what may have happened, I unzipped my just downloaded POO, but when I run it appears like in this image (http://www.imageshosted.com/uploadimages/16685POO_bug.gif): the buttons on the toolbar are invisible, and even labels on menus!
So, by now I can't use it: maybe it has to do with my system language (italian), I don't know, maybe program tries to use italian menu but the software hasn't it... I just have no idea of what the problem is, and what I can do...

OpenOffice 2.02 english version.
I have a problem using this OpenOffice version, when launching the application.
The application don't run.

I found that, the path of program is too long:
example: "C:\ApplicationData\Software\PortableSoftware\OpenOffice2_02\OpenOffice..."

I record the folder in a small path, and the application run!!!
example: "C:\PortableSoftware\OpenOffice2_02\..."

Excuse me for my bad english ... of course ....

Base won't run

Submitted by jjohnson2499 on May 5, 2006 - 1:31pm

I installed the suite both on my harddrive and usb. The harddrive version runs everything fine but the usb won't run base, but everything else works. Basically I click on the exe, get the splash screen, the little bar indicating the load up process moves to full, splash screen disappears and then nothing. I even copied the exe from the hardrive over and still won't run. Anybody have any thoughts?

btw I've been using PortFirefox for months now & love it. Great to be able to have same history, bookmarks etc at home and work.

Problems running OOo on a Network

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on May 5, 2006 - 10:31am

Hi there

I'm a Physics teacher who wants to use OOo on the school network but the Network manager refuses point blank to agree (despite it being the office program of choice of many of the pupils).

I use your excellent portable OOo from a Flash drive and it works fine on the network, so I tried to load it onto my allocated disc space on the network. This again worked fine, for a day, but now refuses to boot. The OOo flash screen comes up, a second or two passes and then you get a windows error message saying "The application cannot be started. An internal error occured" along with an OK clickable button. Click this and the application stops.
