Minecraft

Submitted by Fosferus on February 1, 2012 - 9:05pm

I can run Minecraft off my flashdrive if I run it from a batch file instead of the executable. But I can't get the batch file to show on the Portable menu, only the exe. Is there a way to edit the menu's path or a mini exe that will trigger my batch file?

Chrome works on XP but not on 7

Submitted by StrangeQuirk on January 31, 2012 - 12:52pm

I use portable Google Chrome on a network drive. The network has a mix of XP and Win7 computers. The program works fine on XP, but not on 7. I can open chrome and get a blank new tab screen, and I can open tabs and make bookmarks, but I can't load any webpages (or local pages) or even load the options page.

I'm using version 16.0.912.77

Portable Java 64?

Submitted by therock003 on January 31, 2012 - 11:34am

I see there's portable java here, but does it include 64bit Java? I already got Java installed in my system, but there's this program i need to run that requires 64bit Java to run, for some weird reason. In order not to cause conflicts i dont want to install 64 version as well so i thought i should try some porable version...

Google Chrome - extensions & reopen last session

Submitted by JKEngineer on January 27, 2012 - 9:21am

I am currently using version 16.0.912.63 from the HD of a Win XP Pro SP3 machine.

I seem to have lost the ability to install extensions. I have a few installed from previously, I think from an older version of Chrome. Currently when I try to install a new one from the Chrome Web Store it says "checking" then offers a dialog box to "install" and then nothing happens. This has happened with at least two different extensions. Any help appreciated!

CAM Studio 2.0 Portable broken help links

Submitted by seamiccon on January 25, 2012 - 11:08pm

I'm new to portable apps, so far so good.

I tried CAM Studio 2.0 and went to look for help by clicking on Help\Help. This popped up a HTML file from my PC which is quite helpful. There are other links off the Help menu that don't work though.

Help\CamStudio Website - looks like it starts to go "http://www.rendersoftware.com/products/camstudio" then is redirected to "http://www.adobe.com/products/robodemo/" which gets a page not found error from the Adobe site.

Help\Frequently Asked Questions - goes to www.ehelp.com which was not very helpful actually.

Skype saves chat history despite setting to save no history

Submitted by rcamp on January 20, 2012 - 9:54am

I have noticed that even though I have the setting under the Privacy tab to save "no history" that it still keeps the history of the last conversation.

It happens even across different portable instances. For example, I use Skype Portable at a friend's house from my thumbdrive (settings set to no history), have an IM conversation, exit the app.

Then I go home, maybe the next day, launch Skype Portable from my hard drive (so totally different set of files), when I log in I see the conversation history.

Does anyone else experience this or know a fix?

Thanks.
