µTorrent 3.1 (26616) default download location not working

Submitted by InterClaw on December 20, 2011 - 3:48am

I'm having problems with the default download location functionality in version 3.1 (26616) of µTorrent. I noticed that it now runs in "portable mode". That has probably something to do with it. Don't know if this forum or the µTorrent forum is the right place to ask this but here goes...

I want my downloads to go to %USERPROFILE%\Desktop, which has worked fine until now. I noticed that it now suggests some download folder buried deep on the flash drive instead.

uTorrent 3.1 Build 26616 refuses to run

Is anyone else getting the error "Another instance of uTorrent Portable is currently closing. Please wait for it to finish before launching again."? I can go to the uTorrentPortable\Apps\uTorrent directory and run uTorrent.exe, just fine, but the loader refuses to load, even after a fresh reboot. This problem first appeared when I upgraded from the previous version, to this one. Anyone have an idea how to fix this??? Thanks...

Skype 4.2.0.187 No Longer Installs

Submitted by colin1951uk on December 16, 2011 - 3:26pm

I've had to reinstall Windows due to a corrupted drive and I've just tried to install Skype 4.2.0.187 (which I've continued to use as I don't like version 5x) but I can't get it to work.

I get an error message like: The Installer can't download Skype.

I'm just wondering if this may mean that my particular version has been removed from the Skype server and so I may have had it.

Can anyone enlighten me please?

Cheers...Colin

µTorrent keeps trying to install/update 3.0 Build 25824

I've had µTorrent for a while, but just recently it downloaded the setup to a new version. So, now every time I try to start it, it just starts "µTorrent Setup" forcing me to install it to my computer. I can't get to the portable app anymore. I connected to the internet to update it via PortableApps.com Platform, but it still opens the setup for the same version.

Any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated Smile

ToDoList - Default extension (TDL) not offered

Submitted by OLLI_S on December 12, 2011 - 8:48am

Hello,

when I download ToDoList 6.2.8 from the developers page and select "File -> Open Tasklist" then in the file-open-dialog there are the file extensions "*.XML" and "*.TDL" be offered.
When I download the portable version of ToDoList (also version 6.2.8 ) then only the extension "*.XML" is offered in this list.

Although I can select my *.TDL file and it is opened, I wonder why *.TDL is not offered in the file-open-dialog.

The settings of the portable version also do not match the default settings.
In the portable version I do just see the column "Title".

Frets on Fire doesn't work on Win 7

Submitted by Kallist0 on December 11, 2011 - 11:10am

Hello,

Frets on Fire has never worked on Windows 7, so why haven't you updated the listing to reflect this: XP and below or something.

I've downloaded the game from the main site and it plays really choppy when it isn't kicking out errors and crashing. Compatibility settings have not resolved the problem for me. Windows XP Service Pack 3 compatibility settings should resolve this on Windows 7, but don't.

File type of videos change from VLC to Windows Media when copied to USB drive

Have videos that are VLC type that run beautifully on my PC, but when moved to my Portable environment on the USB drive, the file type automatically changes to Windows Media Player, and "Open with" does not offer VlC as an option.
I'd need them to stay VLC and also show "Openwith" VLC. Pls advise what I need for a remedy. thanks GusN6603

Xampp not running Php?

I installed xampp for the purpose of "portable wordpress theme development". Along with other PA stuff.

However for some reason whenever I go to wp-admin.php I get an error page saying:

"Error: PHP is not running
WordPress requires that your web server is running PHP. Your server does not have PHP installed, or PHP is turned off."

Now before jumping to conclusions I should point out the limit of my knowledge.
