Is there Google Chrome Portable Extensions Support?

*Not sure if this has been asked, nor if this is the right category for this topic, my apologies! I've search the forums, but found nothing I was looking for...if I missed it, my apologies once again. Please provide a link if possible!

I'd like to ask whether or not it is possible to use the Official Extensions Gallery (https://chrome.google.com/extensions)to install extensions using Portable Apps Google Chrome (Using DEV 4.0+). I currently cannot install any of the extensions available on the site.

FairStars CD Ripper - Freeware

Submitted by vjuhasz on December 8, 2009 - 6:10pm

Hi,

There is an excellent freeware CD ripper app available here:
http://www.fairstars.com/cdripper/index.htm

It is special because it rips CDs directly to MP3, WMA and OGG formats, both fixed and VARIABLE bitrates. Variable bitrate WMA rippers are really rare on the market.

Would be possible for someone to "portabilize" it?

Any help in this regard is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

µTorrent portable skinning

Submitted by Flanjygo on December 8, 2009 - 12:11pm

I was just wondering if it is possible to skin µTorrent portable. I know that µTorrent normally searches in %AppData%\uTorrent to find different skins. I was wondering if that is a folder stored with uTorrent portable, or if the portable version still searches in "My Documents".

This is not an extremely critical problem, I was just wondering if this is possible.

Lightscreen refuses to save files

Can't figure out how to save screenshots in Lightscreen. It works at home, but doesn't work on other computers.

It won't save them in JPG, BMP, or PNG. It won't save them to the flash drive, to the desktop, or the Documents folder (on the host computer). It won't save the screen or a selected area.

This is Lightscreen 1.0. Even after downloading and reinstalling the app, it fails. A red X over the tray icon and the window title changes to "Failed!".

[Fixed] Warzone2100 Portable: screen resolution changing

Submitted by Bart.S on December 3, 2009 - 6:25am

Ok, I'm sorry to say that, but IMO Warzone2100 Portable (2.2.4 Rev 3) has a bad design:

  • The Warzone2100 Portable launcher ignores the "ingame" screen resolution settings and those of the file "Data\settings\config". No matter what the user set within Warzone2100 or the config file, it won't be used. It always launchs Warzone with the commandline parameter "--resolution $SCREENWIDTHx$SCREENHEIGHT", which is 1024*768 by default.

Google Chrome Problem

Submitted by TSK222 on December 2, 2009 - 8:38pm

My antivirus 'Avast' recently updated, and since then, when I open Chrome on portable apps, download Chrome or try to install it, Avast detects it as a virus (malware)

Just thought I'd point that out because I can't afford to turn it off when using chrome and I like using that browser.

If there's anything you can do, I'd appreciate the help.

Edit: Not just chrome but portable apps itself too is detected

utorrent acting querky intermittently

Submitted by Vagabond48 on December 2, 2009 - 1:24pm

I have used utorrent for over 2 years and have kept up with the upgrades. I never had a problem with the software until I installed the portable version when it was introduced.
As I did with the non-portable version, I choose to redirect the new downloads, the completed downloads and the torrents to separate folders but this is creating occasional weird intermittent results.
It sometimes,
. restarts the torrent even when it has completed and left for seeding. A couple times it splits the completed folder between the new download and the completed folder.

Teamviewer with Linux?

I love the TeamViewer portable app. It is easy to use, the site is easy to navigate, and it just works. Considering my past experiences with PC Remote Service software, I was surprised how friendly it was. It's the first app I feel like I could give to a friend and tell them how to use it without any problems.

However, there is only one flaw. No linux server.

Now, I could use Wine, but I'd like to avoid that if possible
