Skype Portable 4.1 : Am I right or am I wrong?

Submitted by VANC56 on January 8, 2010 - 6:30pm

Hello,

Belated, best wishes to all of you for 2010!!

Rushing in from holidays I would like to ask your advice for skype portable_4.1.
Well, the command line seems to me secure:

F:\PortableApps\SkypePortable\App\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /datapath:"F:\PortableApps\SkypePortable\Data\settings" /removable

So, assuming that there isn't left any trace on a host computer, am I right or am I wrong??

Any help would be highly appreciated. Thank you for your time!

Greetings,
VANC56

Foxit is limited

I tried Foxit reader a bit but then I saw a popup if I wanted to use the function you need to buy Foxit Reader pro version.

This shouts to me this is nothing more than a shareware application as it shows features that can not be used fully.

Don't get me wrong, I like freeware, but this seems more like commercial freeware. While from a company viewpoint of PA.c it's good, from a user perspective it seems the application list becomes 'polluted' with applications that do have their drawbacks.

Chrome "Application Shortcuts"-How to effectivly use portably?

Submitted by furioussun on January 7, 2010 - 2:44pm

I am just a user with a few questions about Portable Chrome's "Application Shortcuts" feature.

I want to know two things:

1)Can you make the shortcuts part of the PortableApps menu instead of the local machine desktop?

2)Can you make the shortcuts appear on different machine desktops once created in the data folder?

Any insight would be appreciated. I searched the forum for an answer to this question, but I could not find any reference to a similar problem. Please, if you know of a post already in progress regarding this problem, point me towards it.

Google Chrome issue

Submitted by chfalcao on January 6, 2010 - 6:39pm

I was able to install Chrome however when running it, it just sits there trying to load a blank page. After awhile (timeout?) the app returns an error message asking whether I want to kill or wait the "New tab" procedure.
Either killing or waiting leaves Chrome unfunctional.

I've tried this on different PCs and OS (Windows XP & Windows 7)

Anyone has faced this?

Anyone can forward me a forum/thread link for Google Chrome apps discussions?

Cheers!

SeaMonkey Portable still creates directories

Submitted by Mets on December 31, 2009 - 10:17am

SeaMonkey Portable is still creating directories in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\ and C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\ everytime it is launched...this is not a portable app, despite the splash screen. This could get unknowing users in a lot of trouble if they are running this at work...
