AVG (Free 2013) vs Google Chrome Portable Update

Submitted by Grantwhy on November 12, 2012 - 6:41am

[spoiler] It was AVG's fault Blum [/spoiler]

This is less a bug/problem report, and more a message in a bottle to anyone else that might have the same problem. (and I apologise for rambling nature of this post)

------------

I've got Google Chrome Portable (and a few other PA programs) on a computer (XP Home, SP3) I don't use often so it took a while for me to do anything investigation/thinking about it.

[Fixed] IrfanView Portable 4.35 Bug: launcher doesn't accept images passed

Submitted by zoc on November 12, 2012 - 4:42am

Symptoms:

  • IrfanViewPortable.exe image.jpg opens an empty IrfanView window
  • i_view32 image.jpg opens image.jpg

First seen in 4.35, before that, behavior was as expected.

Thanks in advance for giving this some attention.

PS
Is there any way to download the previous version until the issue is resolved?

Can't start gnumeric

Submitted by sehlat on November 7, 2012 - 1:58pm

I keep getting a message box that reads: Another instance of Gnumeric Portable is starting. Please wait for it to start before launching it again.

I suspect there's an undeleted file somewhere, but where do I look to kill it and start gnumeric, please?

[Fixed] CamStudio not saving data under Data

Submitted by jcoombs on November 7, 2012 - 11:31am

Saving recordings to App rather than to Data.

I was very pleased to discover CamStudio (2.6b r294) when I saw it on the list of portable apps. It is running and working well for me, but it looks like when it got packaged up to be portable the default save directory may have been overlooked.

It automatically saves AVI recordings here:
PortableApps\CamStudioPortable\App\CamStudio
And SWF recordings here:
PortableApps\CamStudioPortable\App\CamStudio\Recordings

Chrome Portable - disabling only external extensions

Submitted by veress on November 6, 2012 - 8:08am

Hi all!)
My English is bad, so I use google-translator, but I hope to express their thoughts more or less clear.
I'm doing a media presentation, and as a viewer, I favor Chrome portable with an additional parameter

--kiosk

Thus, in this two chrome extensions, except that more extensions should not load. So, in a normal local chrome installed a couple of extensions, and they are also loaded. Can I fix it somehow? That is to load only the internal extension?
Thank you for your attention)

Gramps graphs not working

Submitted by grissey on November 5, 2012 - 11:36am

I have Gramps 3.4.2-1 installed running Windows XP SP3.

When I run Reports - Graphs - all options display the same error:

Error Opening File - [Error 1155] No application is associated with the specified file for this operation: u'C:\\PortableApps\\GrampsPortable\\Data\\settings\\rel_graph.gv'

Is this a Gramps or PortableApps isuue?
Please advise.

*Bug?* Google Chrome Portable - keeps appearing in Start Menu

OtakuboyT's picture
Submitted by OtakuboyT on November 4, 2012 - 12:36pm

I dual boot, so I use portable apps to keep the same setting across OS.

On my laptop I have Chrome Portable installed on the shared drive.

D:\Programs\Google Chrome

Every couple of days I find a Google Chrome folder in my start menu. Inside that folder is a link to a different copy of Chrome located at

C:\Users\Thomas\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe

Also an uninstall shortcut.

I'll delete the folder and few days later it's back.

It only seems to happen in my primary OS which is Vista SP2

Thanks

Closed as a duplicate of Bug 34407

Just checked the new 3.4.2 release and have to report that I'm still unable to start GrampsPortable. Same problem as with 3.4.1
After double clicking the exe it took about 30s (without any noticeable action) until Win7 displays a python has crashed dialog:
