Database Browser Portable doesn't seem to be very portable

Submitted by Shrewd on June 27, 2012 - 5:19am

I think this app may not be very portable...

I stablished a mysql connection to my xampp on my pendrive, but I got :

Unable to create key 'SOFTWARE\DB Software laboratory\Connection properties'

I think it tries to add a key to windows registry, but I'm not allowed on this computer... so I think this app leaves some traces on he computer you use.

The connection works and that stuff, hope there is no more messages like tha one.

Bug: Chrome Portable

Submitted by freebz on June 25, 2012 - 11:52am

After every session I've used Chrome Portable I am unable to eject my thumb drive, without first going into the task manager and killing 'GoogleChromePortable.exe *32' - 2,720K.

Is this a known issue, and is there a way to fix it?

    Chrome info:
    Version 19.0.1
    Extensions:
    - LastPass
    - Readability
I am also logged into my Google account in the browser.

I have already turned off the 'Let Google Chrome run in the background' option as well.

Latest Chrome Portable can't install extensions

I've been using Chrome for a couple weeks now, and I just updated to the latest version (19.0.1084.56), and I'm finding that Google changed the procedure for installing extensions from the Chrome Web Store. I used to be able to click "Add to Chrome" on an extension I wanted to add. Now I see they save by default? Okay, so I saved it, and then tried to drag it onto Chrome. That doesn't work either, just prompts me to re-save it. I'm sure there's an easy solution I'm not seeing, because apparently nobody's asking about it here, or on Google yet.

[Fixed] Lightscreen default screenshot directory issues

Hi, was told to post this here by Chris Morgan.

I decided to try the app and found a few things I thought I'd mention.

AppNamePortable.ini in LightscreenPortable\Other\Source is meant to be LightScreenPortable.ini
I dunno if you'd like to rename that or not.

The default save directory situation confuses me. The first screenshot I took went into C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\VirtualStore. I am not 100% sure what this directory is, but finding that screenshot took me ages.

GnuCash 2.4.10-1

Before I try to find a PC to install the regular version to test it is anybody else having the same trouble as me?

I can add new transactions in existing accounts but anything requiring a new window, e.g. Edit Account, Edit Scheduled Transaction and New Account doesn't work - the window doesn't display but a pressed-button appears on the task bar, clicking on it does nothing.

[Fixed] Daphne Portable 1.48 Error Message

Submitted by VIC-20 on June 14, 2012 - 10:17pm

I just upgraded to Daphne Portable v1.48 from v1.47 and when I try to run it, I get the following error message:

Daphne.exe - Unable to Locate Component

This application has failed to start because mfc100u.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem.

As per the suggestion, I re-installed it and the same message comes up.

What is the easiest way to resolve this issue? (i.e., How do I go about getting the mfc100u.dll file?) I am running a fully patched Win XP Home system and have never had any issues running Daphne Portable v1.47.

TaskCoach opens edit window (almost completely) off screen

Submitted by jwinter on June 13, 2012 - 12:51pm

I thought TaskCoach had broken because when I tried to "Edit" any task it apparently did nothing. However after messing around for some time and closing other windows, I finally noticed the tiniest corner of a window down in the lower right hand corner of my screen - and that was the taskcoach edit window!
