Submitted by Patrick Patience on October 22, 2007 - 9:44pm

Task Coach is an absolutely fantastic to-do manager that's very easy to use, but has plenty of wonderful features. The program is released under the GPL, read more about it from the Official Site.

I highly suggest you try this out as it's a wonderful program that's beneficial to many an goes great alongside PNotes (Portable). If you do download it, please do me the favor of reporting feedback on any problems you have, or even typos.

PortableApps Beta 4 (3 specific questions)

Submitted by joesmith07 on October 22, 2007 - 6:03pm

I am currently using PortableApps.com Platform 1.1 Beta 4 and it is working great! I love the desktop swapper and other new features (personal picture, drag-able file menu, etc.)

I am aware that this is a beta version & can have some negative effects on my Portable Apps and documents. I was wondering:

1) With the new interface, are the apps still truly portable and secure? For example, does Firefox still leave no traces on host PC?

UPX and autoupdate batch files

Submitted by Bahamut on October 22, 2007 - 3:10pm

This is a verbatim of the post I made in the original in the FxP forum. I need people to test the batch files and give feedback. Ways to make it better (how to implement certain features, not just suggestions) would also be greatly appreciated.

After much trial, error, and frustration, I finally got it to work.
Anyway, the batch files can be found here:
http://www.digital-signal.net/bahamut/batch/UPXAU/testing

Instructions:

  • Usage: [batch file] [file to prepare]
  • I will add echo messages in a later release.

Updated so John doesn't have to. Smile

PNotes is a sticky note utility that allows you to post sticky notes on your screen. It has multiple display options as well as a handy feature to schedule notes to pop up. It's small (under 1MB) and works well on Windows 2000 and up.

Now has a much better icon than the previous one.

Scribus Portable is the popular Scribus desktop publishing application in PortableApps.com format. Scribus is an open-source program that brings professional page layout to Linux/Unix, MacOS X, OS/2 and Windows desktops with a combination of "press-ready" output and new approaches to page layout. Plus, it leaves no personal information behind on the machine you run it on, so you can publish files wherever you go.

Java-Comix Portable (comic books viewer)

Submitted by wrobel-cwirek on October 19, 2007 - 11:10pm

Hi All,

I have pleasure to present portable version of Java-Comix.

Java-Comix is a comic book files viewer like CDisplay/CDisplayEx written in Java. It can read directories, 7z, zip, cbz, rar, cbr, tar, cbt, PDF files! Full screen, playlist, open multiple files.

This is BETA version since still I did not fix some issues - for example it must be installed under PortableApps/Comix otherwise C executable which runs Java will not find scripts (bat files) for it.

RocketDock - A shortcut and application docking program

Kevin Porter's picture
Submitted by Kevin Porter on October 19, 2007 - 4:44pm

I saw this great app while looking through the Vista-style apps for XP (and Win2K). It is called RocketDock. It is an app that will allow you to both dock your apps there instead of the taskbar, and make shortcuts. Here is some information:

Homepage: http://www.rocketdock.com/

Liscense: Freeware

How to make portable:

  1. Download RocketDock here: http://files.punklabs.com/RocketDock/RocketDock-v1.3.5.exe
  2. Install to the system, or your flash drive (Universal Extractor will not work)

This app is outdated. Please see the newer version here.

OK, heres a Project64 Portable launcher. Since Project64 is not OSS, your gonna need to download it and put Project64's guts in the App\project64 folder.

For those of you who don't know what Project64 is, it is basically the best N64 Emulator for Windows (at least from what heard).
