New U3 will not eject after FF update

Submitted by dford3772 on November 9, 2006 - 12:10pm

Hi all,
I got what I thought would be a good deal on this drive and now I am ready to scream: SanDisk Cruzer® Micro 2GB (Black) - New
SDCZ6-2048. My OS is XP Home Svc.Pack 2.

It worked fine until FF downloaded the latest update 1.0.8 and after I synched
some Open Office files with GoodSync from my C drive. The files were stored in
the drive directory. I also deleted some OO files loaded by mistake.
Now the drive will not eject and I get an error message telling me to close all
programs. Unless they are hidden there are none visible. The light on the device is on steady but not blinking. I figure there must be corrupted data somewhere.

U3 GIMP

This is by far not an official version or anything, but I made it with package factory and thought I'd share it. I even added a little banner to the loading screen. Hope no one minds...

Portable GIMP U3

Can't get Portable FF 2 RC3 and Portable Gaim 2 beta 3.1 to properly function

Submitted by joshritger on November 5, 2006 - 12:48pm

I just bought a u3 capable flash drive. I have been using most of the portable apps off of this site off of a normal flash drive for a while now and haven't had any problems. I transfered all of my programs from the regular flash drive to the u3 drive and used the shortcut creator to add the normal portable apps to my u3 launchpad. All of the programs function except Portable FF 2 RC3 and Portable Gaim 2 beta 3.1. Portable Firefox crashes almost everytime I open it and the times i do get it to open properly it will not connect to the internet. Portable Gaim opens fine, but will not connect to the internet. I was wondering if there was anything different on my u3 drive that could prevent these from launching correctly and accessing the internet.

Open Office File Association

Submitted by errold32 on November 2, 2006 - 1:55pm

I am using Cruser sync by sandisk, and as the files are encrypted in sandisks proprietary file browser, a file association is needed to open them. If you try to open unknown files, cruser sync says it can't open this file, and puts that file in a temp folder. you then can open the file. I have the u3 version of open office set to run on startup, and would like to see if a file association could be inserted into the host computer on startup. Could it be removed by having the launcher stay running in the background, like
soffice.exe -quickstart, and delete the association on close?

Getting U3 apps to default to Firefox (U3) on links

Submitted by Phil459 on November 2, 2006 - 2:22am

I love my U3 thumbdrive and I really like having Firefox and Thunderbird on it. (In fact I didn't even try Thunderbird before I had my U3).

I am just a user and have no idea about programing, but is there a way to make my U3 applications call up the Firefox browser on my thumbdrive. I am talking about when I click a link in an email in Thunderbird or when I start up Skype. Instead of using IE on the work computer I would like them to use the browser on the thumbdrive they are located on. I hope this makes sense to somebody else. Thank you for your time and patience.
