Sync FF for U3 with Local FF settings?

Submitted by doni49 on January 21, 2007 - 8:48pm

I just bought a U3 drive tonight I REALLY like the idea of taking FF and TBird with me whereever I go. But I don't think I want to have to connect the drive EVERY time I want to use my home pc. I plan to use my local installation of FF and TBird at home on my laptop.

I'd love to be able to have my bookmarks and other settings synchronize when I plug in my U3 at home.

Until such time as that becomes possible (hopefully it will eventually :-)), how do I manually migrate my bookmarks and other settings from the local installation to my U3 drive?

Thanks.

Question about U3 apps in general

Submitted by rfox on January 20, 2007 - 11:15pm

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what would be stored in the .u3p file hidden in the program folder for a U3 program [U3 Drive\System\Apps\(Long string)\]. I was wondering because as a random experiment, I decided to overwrite the files in the "profile", "plugins", and "firefox" folders with the PA's Firefox 2.0 folders on a seperate disk. It seems to work fine. but I was wondering if the .u3p file will interfere with the overwritten files. Any help?

Oh yeah, sorry if this doesn't make any sense to you. Let me know if it is and I'll try to rephrase it.

U3 Apps - disable splash screen

U3 Apps - disable splash screen
Disabling the splash screen in standard PortableApps is well documented on this site and works fine.

I've been unable to do so in the U3 versions. I've changed the folder references to comply with the U3 file structure and tried putting the .ini file in just about every folder in that structure - but to no avail.

Is it even possible? And, if so, would some kind soul post their solution for it.

Cheers,

Firefox U3 version 1.5.0.70 and RoboForm2Go version 6.8.4.0 do not work together

Submitted by markiz on January 13, 2007 - 11:40pm

I installed Firefox U3 version 1.5.0.70 and RoboForm2Go U3 version 6.8.4.0 on Cruzer Micro U3 Flash Drive.

Now, every time I try to login to web sites via RoboForm2GoI, I am getting the following error message:

"Mozilla Firefox for U3 cannot be started. You may wish to re-install to fix this issue.(Error: The program could not be found: I:\System\Apps\..."

Anyone else experienced the same problem?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Mark

Put U3 to REAL use...

I'm sure a few of you with U3 drives have heard of Gnu3izer and such for making your U3 drive Autorun anything. I have made a launcher for the CD portion of the drive that will run any commands in a file called usbgo.bat on your usb drive. The source is in Delphi. Is anyone interested in someting like this, as the .vbs included in Gnu3izer and Universal_Customizer can be blocked by some computers in "high security"? The CD images comes with Universal_Customizer, which I have had more luck with than Gnu3izer. I used it successfuly on a Memmorex 1gb usb travel drive.

Is it possible? If yes how can I do it? Can I have the source code?

How-to Install PortableApps aplications in a U3 drive

Submitted by espiaran on January 6, 2007 - 8:42am

You need PackageFactory for U3, is freeware, you can download it from here:

http://www.eure.ca/

Then, download the app from PortableApps, install it anywhere of you computer and enter in this folder.

Open PackageFactory, and drop the aplication's archives (the exe, all the archives and the folders) in the first square, then click create and the file will be created.

Sorry about the bad English, see ya.
