Changing the size of the PortableApps menu - I want to make it taller

Submitted by D_Zeb on February 19, 2009 - 5:03pm

Hey, folks. I've searched and searched to no avail, so I thought I'd ask here. I would like to make the portable apps menu taller, so more application icons show without scrolling. Is the size fixed, or could I add some lines to the PortableAppsMenu.ini file to accomplish this.

Thanks for your time!

Dan

Using Portable Apps Exclusively

Submitted by blah-01 on February 17, 2009 - 6:09pm

I have been using Portable Apps on a flash drive for some time. I had problems with my laptop, and dreaded going through the whole setup process for so many programs again. Then I thought, "Hey, I wonder if I can use Portable Apps on all of my PCs?"

My thinking is that all I would have to do to duplicate my programs and data on my different machines is to copy my flash drive contents to/from those drives. (I realize this probably sounds stupid to some of you, but that is why I am doing the asking rather than the answering!)

R34 personal picture

Submitted by crookadile on February 15, 2009 - 9:16am

Hi, I am using Mod R34.
I was wondering if it is possible to use a personal picture with this mod.
I have used several themes and every time I hover my mouse over the top right I don't get the box to display the picture like the official version does.

Thanks in advance,
Brian.

Running from CD-R

Submitted by anon_private on February 14, 2009 - 10:02pm

Hi,

Can openoffice portable be run effectively from a CD-R.

I intend to download onto a flashdrive from a friend's faster (broadband) machine, then to install to a CD-R.

If CD-R media are not suitable, please can you suggest a CD media that would be more suitable.

Thanks

Ps. Can we change our passwords to something of our choice?

Suite apps seriously out of date

Submitted by WiMax on February 14, 2009 - 12:09pm

I've just downloaded and installed the suite. Now I find that every app is outdated so I am back and d/l every app and doing another install. I have bandwidth caps unfortunately. This has cost bandwidth (113Mb for suite plus 132Mb for updated apps). The suite should save time, not add to it.

Can the suite be updated to include the latest version of each app?

Portable Apps ate half my thumbdrive space...

Submitted by vactus on February 11, 2009 - 6:30pm

In case the title isn't clear enough:

Back in October I downloaded and installed vs 1.1 on an 8GB Sandisk thumbdrive. It went fine and everything worked, however after I did that my sandisk only showed 4GB available total instead of the 8GB that I had on it before hand. Why is this a problem now? I didn't really notice until recently since I had it sitting next to my PC and had not used it but maybe a few times after the install.

New Theme Help

Submitted by bmguida on February 11, 2009 - 12:36am

So I have started to learn how to use GIMP and I figured that a new PortableApp Menu theme would be a good starting project. Since I an a noob I broke down the original and rebuilt it. For the most part everything is coming along great but there are a few issues I am having. First, i cant get the drive_space_slider to line up properly and than there are white lines on the left and top that I can not get rid of.

Also I was curious( not that I dislike the PortableApps logo) how can you change the PortableApps logo in the top left?
