Bug Report: Improperly handling file names containing ".exe"

DeathByNukes's picture

File names containing ".exe" in the middle of them are improperly handled.
For example, there is a file in the otherwise empty folder "\PortableApps\Example" named "This is not an .exe!!".
This would generate a menu entry "This is not an .e"

Hey. I need some help. When I plug in my MP3 Player into the computer. PortableApps doesn't automatically start. It ends up prompting me to do an action, like any other USB device. What can I do so it can just start up the menu? Because in properties it doesn't list the PortableApps option, like when I plug it in.

Backup: suggestion for enhancements

Hello everybody,

first big thanks to John and all the people who develop these great applications, which helped me in taking most of my data and programms with me to manage my life and work at university. Please keep up this incredible and perfect work.

Theres one option I personally miss in the built-in backup function of PAM.

Screwed up flash drive from standard suite installation (possibly?)

Submitted by Marzman on November 24, 2008 - 6:30am

I got a 1Gb drive free from uni, and thought I’d install the standard suite, having only used custom installs before on smaller capacity drives. The drive was pre-formatted, and the install went fine, and all seemed to be working until I tried to use it on another computer. Then the autoplay in XP took forever, and it wouldn’t load, allow me into any folders as everything resulted in a computer slow down. I remembered reading that the standard suite worked well on 2 Gig drives, so I formatted my drive, yet now can’t use it at all and can’t even format it again.

Portable apps menu Possible Featue

Submitted by shadowreaper1989 on November 23, 2008 - 6:24pm

i hate U3 really i despise U3 but ... there is 1 feature that i like the virtual cd drive i formatted u3 off my drive and my friends ... needless to say he changed his mind so had to reinstall it i was expecting not to have the virtual cd drive and him having to manually autoplay but no it was there. so it should be possible to create an open source variation for the portable apps menu who knows maybe in the near future we'll see USB drive sporting a built in collection of software from this site.

Backup when a file is corrupt

Submitted by ZigPress on November 21, 2008 - 12:13pm

My USB stick has thrown a corrupt file at me. Luckily it's only one file, and after failing to delete the folder it was in, I just renamed the folder and reinstalled the app. Hopefully in this way I can delay reformatting the stick and reinstalling from a complete backup for a few days (though I plan to do so).

However, when I come to do my next backup, will it crash out when it hits the corrupt file, or will it skip it and continue to backup everything else?
