PortableAppMenu Doesn't Do Anything!

Submitted by cailtindimareoliver on September 13, 2007 - 3:00pm

I've installed the PortableAppsSuite onto my 2g USB drive successfully... I see the directories, and everything looks good. When I plug it into my computer, Windows even asks to launch the Autostart... however, when I launch it, all I see is a flash of the dos command window and then... nothing. No error, no menu, no nothing!

I couldn't find anything on the site about this (I wasn't really sure how to search for nothing, though... so if I missed anything please point the way!)

Hoping for some insight?

Thanks!

Caitlin

PA menu messes up relative paths

I don't know if it happens with all apps that can accept relative paths (and don't have launchers), but with Console (2.00.132; haven't tried with 1.42.x or 1.5.x), the setting for shell and initial directory can accept relative paths, however the path is relative to the drive letter instead of the app when launched with the PA menu. When the app is launched normally, the relative paths work fine. I found a workaround, but a less technically-inclined person would be extremely confused.

Fails to install - 3666 7-Zip errors

I downloaded the PortableApp_Suite_Standard_1.0.exe and copied it onto a 2GB USB stick. Then I plugged the stick into a computer running Windows XP Home SP2 all up to date, and ran it. It ran through to at least 99% and then exited leaving behind a box listing 3666 7-Zip errors, each saying that it had failed to open a (different) new file.

It did manage to create the new folders Documents, Video, Music, and something else, plus the hidden Desktop.ini. So it can write to the root of the stick, where I told it to install, as advised.
