Feature request: keystroke launch

Submitted by sjpye on April 7, 2007 - 10:59am

First off, the PortableApps Menu is an excellent application. I'm actually using it as a replacement for the start menu for any of the apps I'm using. One thing I would love to see, however, is the ability to activate the menu via a keystroke. I know that kind of defeats the point of being portable, since that would somewhat require access to the system directly, but no more so than having the icon in the system tray. If there were a way to trigger the pop-up by pressing a Win+? combination, like Win+1 or something, that would be great.

PAM .paf Theme extraction

Submitted by wsm23 on April 5, 2007 - 11:00am

This may be way too soon, because we are due soon for a PAM update from John.

I'll ask anyway.

It should be possible to have the PAM "install" a .paf.exe folder directly to the PortableAppsMenu folder and overwrite the DefaultData folder right?

Of course someone would have to have the latest release of PAM, but I though this might be easier to change themes.

PAM not auto-starting on an iPod

Submitted by Gospel on March 31, 2007 - 10:29pm

I ordered a 4GB SanDisk Cruiser with U3 on Friday morning. Last night, Last night I thought, "Da! I have an iPod!" There is 14GB free on my 60GB iPod Photo. I've installed the suite and it very works and and Firefox starts up faster.

The only thing is that PAM doesn't auto-start like it does on my 128MB Dell thumb drive. On the Dell TD, I only have Firefox, PuTTY, PortableBacup, and PAM. Is there a way I can get PAM to auto-start when the iPod is plugged in?

Customizable PortableApps Menu?

Submitted by Spdlmt150 on March 31, 2007 - 3:54pm

First, I would like to say that the PortableApps Suite is a beautiful piece of work. I never imagined I would be carrying the majority of what I use on my keychain. The main problem I do have with it is that after getting all of my apps on the usb stick, I have quite a menu to scroll through to launch them. For the sake of simplicity I have switched to using PStart due to the ability to group shortcuts in a similar layout to the normal Windows start menu.

@ John, Menu theme forum?

Submitted by wsm23 on March 31, 2007 - 1:29pm

John,
Could we have a menu theme forum?

It seems to be a quite popular topic right now. Some of the threads are getting quite long. It might be easier if Theme's or Menu Customization was in it's own forum. Does Drupal support sub forums?

Support Forums-
-PortableApps Menu
-Themes

Or it might even go into the development as its own forum. Might help promote also if it was easier to find things. Search theme and you will get 17 pages of results.
