How do I remove menu items from the Portable Apps menu without removing the program. I recently added Spybot and the menu system lists spybot six times. It obviously is picking up any .exe apps. I just want a menu link to the main app.

I stumbled on a nice little hack.
I'm sure half of you know this already, but it was new to me.

I'm using R31 with my modded "theme example" and wanted to add a menu item to a shortcut (LockXP.lnk) I have to lock down the OS:

Target:%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation
Start in:%windir%

This is sitting in \\PortableApps\LockXP

So while roaming around in R31 I noticed a *.pafData file for my "X-Setup Portable" link.
Humm...
It had the simple needed format.
Copied, changed the name, changed the file to read to:
[PAFDATA]
ExePath=..\LockXP\LockXP.lnk

I noticed the PortableApps menu doesn't launch under WinPE 2.0 (Vista kernel) from my UFD (USB Flash Drive). All the Portable Applications run fine, though, just the menu doesn't work. Is it because the Portable Apps Menu program depends on a Taskbar/Start-Menu, which WinPE does not have?

I'll use the portable apps as part of a windows deployment / disaster recovery scenario, but I just won't be using the Portable Apps Menu.

Is this a known issue with Portable Apps Menu?

When I'm using PortableApps.com Suite (Base Edition) on Windows XP computer(My own computer with Administrator account), there is no problem.

But, when I run PortableApps.com Suite (Base Edition) on my school's Windows 2000 based computer (with non-administrator account), an error message was occured. The error message is:

"The exception unknown software exception (0x0eedfade) occured in the application at location 0x7c59bc3f."

Why? I don't have Administrator account on my school's computer. How to solve this problem?

Anyone have a an idea of how to change to an alternate icon for the PAM? I have two versions of PAM running from seperate USB drives (one for work, one for personal) and it can become confusing to know which one is which. A simple alternate icon color would be enough for me to clear this up...

i mean if there is any thing i can do to change the red color and the fading effects as -specially the effects- some how slowing down few old computer when using the usb drive on it

Whatever happened to the source for PAM 1.0 to 1.0.1? Can't find it anywhere.

Does the Portable Apps menu use an emulator to work? If so, why?

The idea...

Upon each load the menu auto-scans the PortableApps folder and adds new EXEs (and removes ones that no longer exist) while still following 1 rule... never re-add any EXE you have previously manually removed. Thus the "chaff" is not re-added.

I downloaded the mod v. r30 of the PortableApps menu, and tried to rename apps, but when I later restarted the menu the old name is there again, any solutions?
I tried with back up and stuff but it won't work.
