Portable Apps Menu with graphical glitches when desktop resolution is a 16:10 resolution

Submitted by CaPohl on May 9, 2007 - 1:22am

Hi!

First of all, thank you for your great software.

Sometimes I use Portable apps under an old Dell Notebook that has an 16:10 screen resolution. The exact resolution is:

WSXGA+ 1680x1050 16:10 Wide Super Extended Graphics Array plus

When starting the menu, some graphical elements are not in the right corner, but others are. For example the Button labels are in the right place, but the PortableApps.com banner isnt.

Is this problem known?

Keep up your great work.

regards,
Carsten

Skinning

Submitted by cornelha on May 5, 2007 - 5:11am

What are the chances of getting skinning support ? I am a developer and as such muck up my machine often with testing etc so i actually use portable apps on my desktop from my hdd that way a reinstall still gives me my apps with their settings and i would love the menu to look like my normal start menu

Is there a menu option for top taskbar users?

Submitted by joshritger on May 4, 2007 - 11:38pm

I am using portable apps on my computer and I have my taskbar set to the top of my desktop. Is there an option to set the menu to the top of the screen or can a new version be made to detect the location of the taskbar? This would help out alot so I dont have to go to the bottom of the screen to use the menu when I open it on the top of the screen on my taskbar.

Thanks,
Josh Ritger

[THEME] - Death Note PAM Theme

Submitted by nightfire117 on May 4, 2007 - 6:50pm

I just finished a Death Note theme for PAM. Being a fan of Death Note, I think this is the only theme I'll be using, hehe. PSD included. (I can hardly wait until they roll out PNG support for PAM, heh. Although not being a coder I wouldn't know how hard this would be to implement.)

The issue arises that the white text on the right pane isn't too visible on this theme. You can still see it and know what it says, but just not too well. Is there a way to change the font color there, or remove the icons? (I would prefer that the icons be removed, especially for this theme.)

what files are backed up when choosing the apps option

It gives a short list, then ... and I wasn't sure what else was it includeing. Like would it include my calendar which I use via Lightning in Thunderbird? IS it stuff in specific folders?
What I want it to be included in the backup is my Local Folders which I use for TBP. Should I put that folder in any particular folder?

How do you keep an idiot in suspense?

Just tell him an update for an app he uses every day will be released later this week .... and then 3 months later hwen there is still no update .... his head explodes.

Like everyone else here I congratulate John on some very cool coding. Some of the add-on's being developed make it even cooler. But teasing about release dates and "keeping features a secret" .... hey wait .... isn't that Bill Gates territory?

Update Manager

I would like to see an addition to PAM that would look at the version of the Portable Apps and then go the Portable Apps web site to provide a list of updates, if any that were available. With more apps being developed, this task is getting more time consuming to do manually. I search the forum but did not find anything on this topic.

My list of hoped for improvements...

Hi, just wanted to start off that this is an amazing piece of work. Thank you for this. Of course we could all come up with a huge list of things we would like to see, I will keep this to just a few of the most important items for me.

1) I likes my portable apps Smile I have a bunch. The ability to group the apps on the menu by categories would be amazing.
