Pidgin: invisible text bug on portable FIXED!

Submitted by chriskmee on December 11, 2006 - 6:43pm

well, when i downloaded gaim portable, i noticed alot of words were "invisible" or were partly gone. so i worked on it and was able to fix it. what i did was download gaim (non portable) 1.5 with gtx. i downloaded to to my desktop, so your file locations may be different. but anyways.... i found a folder named "gaim" on my desktop, but it actually contains all the gtk info, not gaim info. all i did was delete on my flashdrive gaimportable/app/gtk and put the gaim folder from my desktop right where the origional folder was. then i renamed the "gaim" folder to gtk. All done. it would be nice if this was put onto gaim portable so you wouldn't have to do this to make it work properly. hope this helps and i hope this glitch can be fixed for future downloads.

Pidgin: Gaim crashes when

Submitted by ozzyzorda on December 11, 2006 - 8:29am

It seems that Gaim crashes when you send a message to someone on AIM when they are not on. If I have a window open for someone on aim and they sign off and I don't realize it and I send them a message. Gaim shuts down and gives me a crash error. It doesn't seem to happen with MSN or YIM, just AIM. Any clue as to what might be causing this.

I am running the newest P.apps and the newest Gaim that has been posted.

Pidgin: Proxies

Submitted by Model Rockettier on December 6, 2006 - 12:21pm

I cannot get GAIM to configure to my school's proxy, portable google talk and all of the other portable apps that I've tried can, but GAIM cannot, it has an http proxy without needing a login, but it won't work

Pidgin: SILC settings...

Submitted by Ehko on December 6, 2006 - 7:55am

can someone give me a hand with the settings for SILC accounts. I'm trying to copy my account over from a different client and so far it seems as though I'm not connecting to the right network.

Maybe someone could make a guide or something?

Pidgin: Any way to use the Wimp Theme in Gaim Portable 2.0.0 beta 5?

Submitted by Blaziken257 on December 4, 2006 - 9:01pm

When I use Gaim Portable 2.0.0 beta 5 on any computer other than my own (which also has Gaim 2.0.0 b5), the default theme is used. When I use it on my own computer, the Wimp theme is used, and this is what I want. (And yes, the non-Portable Gaim I have on my computer uses the Wimp theme, so that may be a factor...) Is there any way to use the Wimp Theme so that it works on a computer OTHER than my own? Thanks...

FileZilla: Password Protect?

Submitted by Corleone187 on December 1, 2006 - 11:34pm

Hi,

I was wondering if there was any way to password protect before loging on to Filezilla. Like in Thunderbird you have to enter a password to collect your email. Filezilla is different because unlike Thunderbird where you can enter 1 main password to access all your email accounts in Filezilla you have to enter for each FTP account and I run alot of websites so I will have to remember like 50 FTP logins instead of 1 main 1?

I tried finding a program to password protect the folder inside the usb HD i have as an alternative but it seems that when i take it into a public terminal it doesn't work because I need admin rights to use the password programs and unlock the folder.

Pidgin: Trojan in Gaim Portable 2.0 Beta 3.1 (English-US)??

Submitted by matt_yahoo on November 30, 2006 - 1:54pm

Whilst carrying out a scan of my USB drive using AVG Free Edition 7.5.430 -
Virus base 268.15.2/260.

AVG Free claimed "GaimPortable\App\GTK\bin\gspawn-win32-helper.exe" file to be infected with the Downloader.Generic2.YXO trojan.

Requesting a second opinion, I carried out an additional scan using Clamwin AV 0.88.5 - Virus DB Version (main:41; daily;2263). Clamwin gave the file the all clear.

I deleted the file as a precaution.

Any comments?
