Pidgin: SILC settings...

Submitted by Ehko on December 6, 2006 - 7:55am

can someone give me a hand with the settings for SILC accounts. I'm trying to copy my account over from a different client and so far it seems as though I'm not connecting to the right network.

Maybe someone could make a guide or something?

Pidgin: Any way to use the Wimp Theme in Gaim Portable 2.0.0 beta 5?

Submitted by Blaziken257 on December 4, 2006 - 9:01pm

When I use Gaim Portable 2.0.0 beta 5 on any computer other than my own (which also has Gaim 2.0.0 b5), the default theme is used. When I use it on my own computer, the Wimp theme is used, and this is what I want. (And yes, the non-Portable Gaim I have on my computer uses the Wimp theme, so that may be a factor...) Is there any way to use the Wimp Theme so that it works on a computer OTHER than my own? Thanks...

FileZilla: Password Protect?

Submitted by Corleone187 on December 1, 2006 - 11:34pm

Hi,

I was wondering if there was any way to password protect before loging on to Filezilla. Like in Thunderbird you have to enter a password to collect your email. Filezilla is different because unlike Thunderbird where you can enter 1 main password to access all your email accounts in Filezilla you have to enter for each FTP account and I run alot of websites so I will have to remember like 50 FTP logins instead of 1 main 1?

I tried finding a program to password protect the folder inside the usb HD i have as an alternative but it seems that when i take it into a public terminal it doesn't work because I need admin rights to use the password programs and unlock the folder.

Pidgin: Trojan in Gaim Portable 2.0 Beta 3.1 (English-US)??

Submitted by matt_yahoo on November 30, 2006 - 1:54pm

Whilst carrying out a scan of my USB drive using AVG Free Edition 7.5.430 -
Virus base 268.15.2/260.

AVG Free claimed "GaimPortable\App\GTK\bin\gspawn-win32-helper.exe" file to be infected with the Downloader.Generic2.YXO trojan.

Requesting a second opinion, I carried out an additional scan using Clamwin AV 0.88.5 - Virus DB Version (main:41; daily;2263). Clamwin gave the file the all clear.

I deleted the file as a precaution.

Any comments?

Pidgin: App\gtk not found.

Hello everyone,

I got this stupid problem. I when I run my portable gaim from the portable apps menu, I get this error message:

App\gtk not found. Please check your configuration.

When I launch game from a launch bat file containing:

start PortableApps\GaimPortable\GaimPortable.exe

... then I also get the same error.

When I browse into \PortableApps\GaimPortable and call GaimPortable.exe directly, then it works fine.

I changed the SettingsDirectory in GaimPortable.ini to my .gaim settings dir. Other than that, it's a clean install. It can't be this because then it wouldn't work when I double-clicked on PortableApps\GaimPortable\GaimPortable.exe.

Pidgin: Problems Installing the OTR Encryption Plugin with Gaim Portable 2.0 Beta 5

Submitted by matt_yahoo on November 26, 2006 - 11:03am

Problems Installing the OTR Encryption Plugin with Gaim Portable 2.0 Beta 5

Tried installing the Off The Record Encryption Plugin (OffTheRecord_Gaim_2.0b2andup), with Gaim Portable 2.0 Beta 5. As instructed I installed to the folder "GaimPortable\App\gaim directory". But when I've selected "Plugins" there is no reference to the Plugin in the list.

Using "Explorer" I have found "gaim-otr.dll" has been successfully installed in the plugin folder.

The plugin appears not to be recognised

Previously I used the "Gaim Portable 2.0 Beta 3.1" version and experienced no problems using the OTR plugin. I have now back to using this older version of the app.
