Pidgin: Getting Error loading gtkgaim.dll

Submitted by koiphish on February 1, 2007 - 6:26am

I just installed the PortableApps Suite 1.0 and patched it to version 1.0.1.

When trying to run Gaim from the menu it gives me an error:

Error loading gtkgaim.dll
Error: (1114) A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed.

I am running Windows XP Pro, 2.8Ghz P4 with 1gb RAM and a 2.0Gb Sandisk Cruzer Mini usb drive.

I downloaded the latest gaim paf and installed it and still the same message.

Version: Gaim_Portable_2.0_B5_en-us.paf.exe

Pidgin: Installing GAIM-Encryption plugin onto PortaGAIM

Submitted by Serotonin on January 17, 2007 - 5:53pm

Wondering if anyone has had any experience with installing this plugin and could tell me how to do it.

The plugin website is here:
http://gaim-encryption.sourceforge.net/

I have tricked it to extracted the files it would have installed into a folder on my desktop, so I know what it wants to install (if it were not the portable version), but I would like to know if it's possible to use this plugin with PortaGAIM, if anyone knows.

Thanks,
Craig.

Pidgin: Gaim 2.0.0beta 5 crashes on exit

Submitted by CyberJedi on January 14, 2007 - 9:18am

Anyone having a problem with Gaim Portable 2.0.0beta 5 crashing when you go to exit by either directly closing the app or by signing off your accounts, and then exiting?? This happening multiple times.

This just started happening to me yesterday. I haven't made any changes to my O/S (Windows XP Home SP2) or anything for that matter. I run it off my laptop and have been doing so since its inception. I've never had this problem with prior versions of Gaim Portable on my laptop either. I even ran my older version 1.5.0 to make sure it that runs fine.

Miranda 0.6 ;)

I know it is a bit early to ask, but will the 0.6 version (released December 29th) be modified as a portable app? This would be so great, because with 0.5.1 I can't establish a File Transfer Connection between the original-ICQ-client users and I hope that this will change with the new version (UPnP).

Many thanks for the great work done so far!

Greetings and best wishes for 2007!
