Filezilla-Runtime request

Submitted by jessejazza on October 28, 2006 - 6:12pm

I thrilled to bits to have discovered this site and have tried half of the programs. Filezilla doesn't seem to work and puts up a pop-up window with the following message. [It would seem that my amchine is missing something.]

"C:\FILEZILLAPORTABLE\APP\FILEZILLA\FILEZILLA.EXE
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the support team for more information."

I have used Filezilla standalone in the past with no problems. I loaded portable version when i formatted drives and reinstalled win98se.

Help much appreciated. I am hoping to use this application to access my website when i'm at work (school teacher). These portable applications for me using different machines - are a godsend.

Pidgin: Minimize, Buddy list Icons, and Groups.. OH MY!

Submitted by jimsu on October 27, 2006 - 4:30am

Hey folks, I'm running Gaim_Portable_2.0b3.1_en-us from a usb drive.

The application seesm to work find, but I'm wondering if I'm missing some configuration options somewhere. There are two things that I'm trying to accomplish.

1. When I minimize GAIM, I would like it to minimize to the system tray as opposed to the task bar. I thought it did this in previous versions, but I know that it doesn't seem to want to in this version.

2. In your 'buddy' list, where is shows all of who is online, the icons are SO BIG.. is there a way to either remove icons from that list of online users.. or make them smaller?

Pidgin: Gaim 2.0.0 b4 fixes GTK+ issues on Windows

Submitted by eph on October 20, 2006 - 6:38am

2.0.0beta4 (10/17/2006)
Sean: Still beta. Maybe the next one should be a gamma.. Smile

Daniel: I'm super chuffed to announce that this will work with newer
      (i.e. >= 2.8.0) versions of GTK+ on Windows.

Luke: Several significant changes in this one, including no longer
using libao for sound! There are no doubt bugs here, but hopefully
      nothing major.

Nathan: I don't have much to say, but yay for another beta!

FileZilla 3.0 Beta Launcher

Submitted by Baschti on October 18, 2006 - 4:42pm

I updateted my portable to filezilla 3.0 beta 2, and noticed, it stored the server-data in my windows-profile (documents and settings\%name%\application data\filezilla)

so i wanted to rewrite the launcher... but i didn't find a way to redirect these files Sad

anyone an idea?

Pidgin: Not really portable

Submitted by doctor_nemesis on October 16, 2006 - 11:18am

I've look through these forums, and spotted lots of people with the same problem, who seem to recieve the same response.

Problem: Gaim cannot connect.
Cause: GTK 2.8.x is on the host system. This is incompatable with Gaim.
Solution: Remove GTK 2.8.x and replace with 2.6.x.

This is not a feasible solution for an application which is meant to be completely independent of the host machine! When using a PC which is not your own, you cannot "simply" remove the existing GTK installation.

I thought that part of the point of having the GTK installation within Gaim was so that it could be used regardless of what GTK was on the existing system, not just if there wasn't _any_ GTK present.
