[Fixed] WinSCP resets PuTTY configuration

Submitted by impbob on May 30, 2018 - 8:46pm

I'm trying to use the "Open Session in Putty" button in WinSCPPortable. I can configure update the configuration path in Options | Preferences | Integration | Applications | Putty/Telnet client path and it works as expected (I use KittyPortable ).

However, if I close WinSCP, reopen it, and click Open Session in Putty, it asks me to open PuttyPortable first. When I check the Options, it appears to reset.

Chrome shortcut to profile?

Submitted by johanponken on May 16, 2018 - 3:17pm

I had a local (Programs) install of Chrome with desktop shortcuts.
To my three google profiles (work, leisure, community).
As I changed to Portable Chrome (still "local", i.e. C:), sync and such works.

But I can't figure out how to make a shortcut to start ChromeP with a specific profile (person).
(I have been searching here, and googling.)
ChromeP always starts with the same profile as was previously active.

Merge multiple chrome portable installations into one

Submitted by goesprotocall on May 7, 2018 - 8:08am

I have a separate installation for office, home and a backup on the usb stick that I use in other computers when necessary. As time goes by the various copies are getting increasingly different as the contents of the history database are going in very different tracks. I've decided to merge them into one ultimately. How do I do it?

The Chrome sync functionality doesn't seem to properly merge all history records and I believe many would have the same annoyance.

Is 'Private Browsing' now redundant?

Submitted by JonBoy on March 27, 2018 - 5:57am

Does 'Private Browsing by PortableApps.com' still fulfill its purpose or should it now be re-positioned or officially retired?

In 4.1 the built-in extensions are now deactivated and I wonder if, overall, users trying the app believing it provides "a more-advanced private browsing feature" are being encouraged to have expectations that are simply not being met.

Perhaps it still has value but it's not clear to me from the description and the current configuration where that value lies - though I'd be happy to be enlightened.

Curious about Chrome 64 bit

Submitted by Jaladhjin on March 13, 2018 - 12:37pm

So I'm pretty confident my last install of Portable Chrome was via: https://downloads.sourceforge.net/portableapps/GoogleChromePortable64_64...

I did not have & do not want the traditional Portable Chrome installed alongside it..

I went to check the About just to ensure it was 64 bit after using it for awhile & noticed it's showing 32 bit..

Does the PA installer/updater overwite the 64 bit build with 32 bit if I ever let it update?

Google Chrome Certificates

Submitted by user 9008 on March 3, 2018 - 5:01pm

hi
my question about google chrome
I understand that firefox leaves nothing behind
but in chrome the certificates are not portable
so chrome stores certificates locally. meaning chrome saves them in the device I am using right ?
so what are these certificates ? and what is its purpose ?
can they reveal what i am doing ?
like my browsing history ? or the sites i have visited?
