Opera, Portable Edition persistent aborts and corruption

Submitted by OzPortableLongTerm on February 9, 2018 - 6:40am

For a number of Opera releases now, I am experiencing persistent Opera Portable problems that have rendered it unreliable to the point of being unuseable.

Some symptoms:
- On startup within PortableApps, Opera will start with, apparently, a fresh, initialised profile and all user settings, extensions, bookmarks will be missing. This does not correlate with any other observable changes. It does not happen following an upgrade. It just happens, frequently.

I found Logs in my AppData dir:
C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Google\Software Reporter Tool
Generated by a spying Tool: "Software Reporter Tool"
D:\PortableApps\PortableApps\GoogleChromePortable\Data\profile\SwReporter\25.139.200
Not at all nice.

Chrome portable - settings aren't kept

Submitted by berserk on January 28, 2018 - 2:53pm

Hey everyone, greetings.

I have PA.com installed on my local Hard Drive, I run every App from there (I did in order to have automatic updates to new software versions, and by the way I don't use other PCs, neither at any Internet Cafe).

I noticed some Cookies aren't kept in Chrome, while some others are (in eg, I can login here automatically, but not on YouTube).
On the other hand, I have my Chrome user always in as I open Chrome.

What can I do? I wouldn't switch to Firefox if I can.

Thanks in advance if you help.

Opera, Portable Edition 49.0.2725.47 update to 49.0.2725.64 FORCED!!!

Submitted by concernediam on December 25, 2017 - 7:59pm

Since Opera Portable Edition 49.0.2725.64 was released in Dec 2017, Opera Portable Edition 49.0.2725.47 automatically updates to this version 49.0.2725.64. The forced update automatically creates a folder ".../PortableApps\OperaPortable\App\Opera\49.0.2725.64" so the folder has both folders 49.0.2725.47 and 49.0.2725.64, but the version PortableApps\OperaPortable\App\Opera\49.0.2725.47 cannot be launched after the folder 49.0.2725.64 is made. This happens every time we turn on the build in VPN of Opera and then restarting the Opera portable app a couple of times.

Google Chrome Portable not retaining customizations

Hey all,

Is anyone have trouble with Chrome Portable resetting to default when moving from PC to PC? What is happening specifically is stuff like my extensions will disappear but will retain their settings when reinstalled and saved passwords are cleared. The only thing that seems to be retained from PC to PC is cookies and browsing history.

Anyone else see this? Current version: 62.0.3202.94

Thank you,

Paul.
