[Resolved] sPortable upgrade to standard Skype prompt

Submitted by webfork on November 6, 2017 - 7:43pm

Setup: Win10x64, Microsoft Lync (aka Skype for Business) and Office 365 installed

Has anyone else seen this? I got an update notice while running sPortable that I believe just installed regular Skype. I uninstalled regular skype and the prompt returned.

Security Risk in Sylpheed !

Submitted by MarKra on October 28, 2017 - 3:16am

Sylpheed is really a very good email client, but the passwords of the mailboxes are unfortunately stored unencrypted in a text file (accountrc, accountrc.bak, ...).

This is a big security risk!

Is there a setting that stores encrypted passwords? If not, I think it's better to use another email client!

Chrome/Firefox Portable, save cookies etch on the usb.

Submitted by fitsou on October 24, 2017 - 5:37pm

Hi guys
Here is my question/problem. In my work place they have firewalled the login options for google account (gmail, youtube etc) i can use for example youtube but without the option to login.

So is there an option to run a portable app on a usb that keeps the login information on the usb. I dont know if that information is stored at cookies or cache.

Chrome v66 problems on W8.1 Pro

Submitted by pajbob011 on October 15, 2017 - 9:54am

Downloaded latest 1.5 MB stub for v66 and it appeared to install & work OK for awhile, then crashed

Best I can remember, I was logging into Facebook and it asked me if I wanted to accept notifications
I accidentally clicked the main screen with mouse while trying to move to the yes/no box
Everything froze so I had to kill the process with Alt-F4 to recover

Then I looked in C:/portableapps as indicated during installation (where I have other portable apps working OK)
But it was not there or anyhere on my computer that I could find!

2017.09.15 Skype has forced us to update again, and begun blocking prior versions of skype once more.
This forced me to give up my ghost-copy of skype i was installing from/to a RAM drive and running daily.

The invasiveness of microsoft products is Legendary, and im sure theres a webster dictionary definition some where with a pic Bill-Gates waving a d***o around.

Chrome Portable command line length limit

Submitted by kamtschatka on September 6, 2017 - 7:40am

I am trying to launch ChromePortable with a lot of command line arguments and after the recent addition of an argument I noticed, that this parameter is not used in chrome(i was using the ignore-certificate-errors switch).
A colleague of mine then played around and noticed that the amount of command line arguments is no problem if you run the chrome.exe that is bundled in ChromePortable.
He also tried to create a GoogleChromePortable.ini as suggested in another post in this forum, but it also did not work.
