The new version of OTR-Messaging has been released with long awaited features. Posting to bring this to the attention of the PA.com community

The main new features in 4.0.0:

-Support v3 of the OTR protocol

As noted in another thread, the instructions for pidgin spellchecking are outdated (probably from the apache move).

OTR recently updated to from version 3.2.1 I'm just bringing this to the attention of the PA.com developers. The relevant files to update the portable plugin may be downloaded from here:

I've done everything I can think of...
All the usual, updates to the meta pidgin, verified I can access the MSN account, but at CMD an NSLOOKUP on messenger.hotmail.com returns nothing...
Seems that MS has integrated messenger with their Live Essentials thus making messenger.hotmail.com:11004 no longer connect capable.
I've searched the forums for a reference and it seems I'm the first, so if anyone else has issue and a fix, please post it or the link or what should be in Account>Advanced>Server, Port and/or "HTTP Method Server" maybe?

OTR recently updated to from version 3.2.1 I'm just bringing this to the attention of the PA.com developers.

Security update: pidgin-otr version 3.2.1

Versions 3.2.0 and earlier of the pidgin-otr plugin contain a format string security flaw. This flaw could potentially be exploited by a remote attacker to cause arbitrary code to be executed on the user's machine.

The flaw is in pidgin-otr, not in libotr. Other applications that use libotr are not affected.

CVE-2012-2369 has been assigned to this issue.

I used to be able to change the settings of gPodder, but now If I change the download path and close gpodder, upon reopen the download path is reset. I understand the reason for the default path. But surely removing the ability to set a path isn't desired? If a user wishes to point the path to a different drive/path then this shouldn't be ignored upon restart?

So when playing with chrome portable, I noticed that it used my current user directory for downloads. While this may be ok for some, this was not a reasonable option for me. I use portable apps from the hard disk of a virtual machine for work. What I like about portable apps is how it is a complete package, without the need for installation (aside from maybe copying a folder). So, for all of you who want to make chrome portable have a relative download directory (relative to the installation path), here it is.

When attempting to update my Pidgin Portable install to 2.10.3 from 2.10.2, I attempt to install it over the old install (as I've done the last 10 or so times I've updated). However, when I select the install folder, C:\Program Files (x86)\PortableApps\PidginPortable\ and click install, I receive the error:

"The destination folder you selected is invalid. Please choose a valid folder. [C:\Program Files (x86)]"

Just wanted to share my approach on having the complete set of putty tools in a really portable way.

I'm getting the dread MS error, "Pidgin has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" every time I try to open the program. Does anybody else have this problem? Does it have to do with something our IT Police have done to my computer? I'm running version 2.10.2 from my thumb-drive. Thanks in advance.
